Talking and I'm Lost all over again....

WTF??? Where the heck are they?? What is that place with the underground funky lab? I've stayed away from all spoilers or early fan sites speculating what might be going on, so I have no clue what-in-the-hay is going on. Still the best show around although i missed Invasion and heard that was good. (Anyone see Invasion?)

So... the whole 'everything happens for a reason' tag line is really coming up to play bigtime. with jack seeing that dude on the stadium steps and then finding him again down in the bunker on the island... well... that'd just be a LEEETLE too much of a coincidence. Still waiting for michelle rodriguez to show up on the other side of the island in a nicely, strategically torn tank top and ripped cargo pants...

on a side note, before the plane went down, why the hell wasn't jack back there talking to her??? she gave him her seat number, told him to come by. and he was still just chatting it up with the lady next to him. although he does have his demons when it comes to the ladies apparently.... they all have their demons and they sure are coming out in force on that island. well... anxiously awaiting the next what-in-the-hay moments next week!

    peace

Yeah, that was a little trippy with the Brit/Aussie guy there. What's the deal with the magnetic pull on Jack's key, too? Hmmm...

Still, I'm sure I'll be as hooked as ever.

Invasion was so-so. I didn't think it was anywhere as good as Lost, especially for a Series premiere. The acting is pretty stiff and so far, I'm only giving it a 5 out of 10. I'll watch next week to see if it gets more interesting, but so far it's about as exciting as the 'SC/Arkansas game after the first quarter. Snooooooore....

    Didja' ever see "V'...

...or the original "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" ?

So the sheriff is one of them, and the Mayor, and the priest and let's not forget naked mama who had all her clothes ripped off by the hurricane and who "smells different"...I've seen less wooden acting by broomsticks...

crap, i started looking up a lost forum and those peeps are really nuts.

    SPOILERS ALERT

OK, the current fan/internet theory is that there is either some sort of time/alternate universe thingy going on, where the 'flashbacks' arent really 'flashbacks' but more like the 'real life' versions of the characters living their lives while the 'island versions' of the characters have to confront whatever it is they need to confront. case in point: the obvious attention paid to sarah saying to jack: "You smell" even after he said he had showered. was that sarah smelling "island jack" on "real world jack" because she just had a miracle? or was it signs of a brain tumor? (jack told sawyer in that headache episode that phantom smells are a sign of brain tumors) did sarah die of that? (just some stuff/ideas/theories gleaned from a lost forum board)

also, the "quarantine" was written on the INSIDE of the hatch, meaning desmond was in the 'safe' place and the island was supposed to be under quarantine. he also appeared out of nowhere running next to jack on the stadium steps. and then said two odd (well... odd given the show) things, first: i'm training for a 'round the world race, and second, when he left, "see you in another lifetime brother."

ugh, they've been answering questions with even bigger questions!!!! love it!

    Jim,
Speaking of stiff broomsticks, at least the naked mama had a nice a$$

    Kam,
This show is one of my favs. All of the different twists they throw at it really draws you in. Hell, they didn't even touch the raft storyline, save for kid looking like he was in a running shower. Great fun!

I became addicted to this show during summer reruns, and even rented the DVDs to catch up on a couple of missed episodes before the new season started.

I spent some time on some of the Lost fan sites over the summer to read up on things that I had missed and there are definately some interesting theories out there. What I think is great is how the show is using the internet to thier advantage. There is an Oceanic Air web site, that is designed like a real airline site would be and there are lots of easter eggs in it.

Go to http://www.oceanic-air.com. At the bottom of the screen where it says Travellers. Put in the following numbers (do I need to tell you what they are?) 4 8 15 16 23 42. The screen will take you to the plane's seating plan. (Notice that there is an arrival time at LAX for this flight ). Once the seating plan has loaded. Click on the seat rows in the same numerical order, 4 8 15 16 23 42. You'll get to see a trailer for the second season. This was obviously done at the end of season one to build suspense for season two. But it's neat to see anyway.

If you highlight the "Important message" on the home page, there is also a hidden message there. In fact there's all sorts of wierd and interesting stuff on this site. I can't remember the site name, but there is also a fake web site for Charlies band which provides some interesting stuff about Charlie and some links to information about other characters. I think that it's brilliant how the show's creaters have build this whole internet sub culture also.

Edit: Here's the Driveshaft link if anyone cares. http://www.driveshaftband.com/

Thanks for the cool info, FA. I had no idea any of these sites existed, so it'll be fun to poke around over the weekend. You know, I have to admit "Driveshaft" is a great name for a rock band.

    Another week, another repeat .

I'll say this tho, all of the Season 1 repeats that ABC keeps throwing at us simply reaffirms my belief that this season has lost (no pun intended) a step compared to the previous.

Besides, any episode that starts with Kate wet in teeny weenie panties has to be a winner. My wife says Sawyer was lookin' all ripped in there somewhere too, but I sure didn't see him .

You know, I'm almost tempted to wait for S2 on DVD at this point. At least I'll be able to watch two S2 episodes in a row.

I thought that tonight was supposed to be a new episode, but I just checked the TV Guide (and then the ABC site to confirm) and it's another repeat.

My interest is quickly waning. I'm sure that if we counted we'd find as many, if not more, repeats than new episodes aired since S2 started in Sept. I'm fed-up.

yeah without any kind of explanation as to why they are taking so long, its starting to get pretty crappy how they are presenting the show. if they just announced or had something out there like, becuase of weather conditions lost production has been stalled, or it just takes us two weeks to shoot every episode so we're sorry for the delay (which doesnt make sense given that season 1 progressed at a fairly fast rate without as many repeats), or even to say hey, its not us, its the network, we have the episodes, but just play it like good cop bad cop so the fans can still love lost but just be pissed at abc, but to just blindly keep showing repeats all season long...
my guess... is the shows popularity has killed its own production schedule. now all the cast members are "stars" and have other commitments or deals going on and so the production has slowed down to a crawl, simply because they cant get everyone they need there.

I guess it would be hard to fire cast members and bring in new ones. Unless another plane or ship or balloon crashes on the island...wouldn't that make an interesting plot twist!

I just sent an email to ABC from their web site. I want to be counted as one of the Lost fans who are pissed...

What's the deal with all the reruns? I'm sure that I've seen as many S1 reruns since Sept. than I've seen S2 episodes. The constant reruns are ruining the show. I'm fed-up and just about ready to stop watching. What's the point, when it seems to be one new episode for every two old ones!! I used to wait for Wed. night with anticipation to see what would happen next. Now I really don't care anymore. Lost is the best show in years. Sadly, the only thing "lost" this year is its momentum.

Edit: I just found this on one of the Lost message boards. I don't know if it's correct or not...assuming it is, it looks like we'll get treated with a string of new epis in May.

    Wow.

OK, what was with Sun's look when she hugged Jin and did anybody else think that when she told him "I have something I have to tell you...", she was going to reveal that she had an affair with her english tutor? Clearly there was something going on there, after all she was ready to board a plane to leave Jin. BTW, I had no idea Jin was such a d!ck. I thought he was a pretty cool fisherman's son, but that all changed when he asked Sun if she had known about the scar tissue before they got married. Ooh, that one hurt.

When the trio spread out into the bush looking for the balloon, the first thing that came to my mind was "Ambush!" They do have a gun (clever foreshadowing there by the writers), but we know the Others do as well. Henry's definitely one of the Others. I really hope Sayid makes it back, because I want to see what he's going to do that manipulative toad.

Good episode and even better, it's going to be followed by another new episode ! That's about as rare as a comet sighting these days.

You know, I was thinking something similar last night as I reached over to grab a pen and paper from by the phone to take notes. Take notes! From a fictional TV show. Even at the height of my X-Files obsession, I never actually took notes.

Didn't you just love her response? "Yes, that's right, I lied to trap the son of a fisherman". Boy, did he ever deserve that! One for Sun.

totally, BUT... that's the best part of his character, that he has an arc to go through. and its the "why" behind his actions is understandable, if not condoneable as the best possible behaviour, but heck, i dont know what its like to be in his shoes. he desperately wants that baby because that baby means his own safety (to him at least) in that with a baby around, his father-in-law wont want to send him on the dangerous thuggish missions. obviously he's been under a lot of stress having to beat people up all the time, so that violence carries over as much as he tries to insulate sun from it, he still shoves it in her face at times. that was defn one time. although yes... her response was ssssssssharp!
just wanted to stick up for Jin, even though he has been a jerk, he did replant the garden!! oh and sawyer calling sun 'sunshine'... classic.

Sorry I'm late, didn't catch it until yesterday (thank heavens for PVR's).

Jin's character is really starting to intrigue me. Here's a guy who sold his soul to be with the woman he loved.
Remember he had all the pride and integrity in the world when he let that poor boy pee in the hotel...then consequently quit his job when his employer bad mouthed poor people.

But for the woman he loved, he'll sell his soul to Sun's father. Working for his father-in-law clearly was changing him. He wasn't happy, he was sick. But sacrificing himself for his wife.
The baby wasn't just about change for him, it was his salvation. His one escape. Learning Sun was incapable of having children closed the door on his future. He was trapped. So naturally there was outrage.
Yeah, he was stressed alright. So his jerkish out-breaks are understandable in that regard. I don't think he's hit Sun yet, but it'll be interesting to see how far he goes (or has gone). That guy has some demons.

The island seems to have afforded him a 2nd chance at life. He's not such a bad guy. Just the opposite. His honor and promise to Sun's father is what's destroying him in the first place. Yup, this is classic story writing. There's a fine line between heroes and villians, sometimes it's the desire to do good that leads a character down the wrong path.
(damn, now that I think of it, Jin is freakin' Anakin Skywalker).

Damn, the characters on this show are killer!

I love Sawyer's comments on the Judy Blume book too when asked how it was... "Predictable".

Charlie's little gun fake on Anna Lucia was priceless too. Damn that guy's good. He's my favorite Lost actor. Him and Sawyer. Selling sleaze as an actor is tough.

As for Henry. Well, he could be an other, but that's too easy. But there's definitely more to him than we know. He's definitely been the best guest on the show.

Great show. Next week's looks even better.

Did anyone else catch Locke say "There's a man in MY hatch, and I want him out of there"?
His hatch? Locke's losing it, man.

everyone on the show is just so well developed...i keep switching who i think is the best because they just keep adding on so many layers.. or rather, reveal so many layers that are already there, so well written!!!
and what i loved in the first season which they are only now starting to get back to doing, is the whole 'partial reveal' of the character's story. the best example was the jin/sun background story the first time they showed it. that was pure brilliance. where they showed sun's side first, and jin just came across as this monumental jackass thug punk ahole (when she busts in on him in the bathroom and hes washing blood off his hands, etc.) and then like 2-3 weeks later they showed the jin backstory and his side of those events and then... bam! you love the guy and feel like a fool for hating him all this time. they've been doing that with sawyer a lot too, but they keep flip flopping the viewers emotions on him... making him a ahole, then giving you the understanding behind it, then back to ahole, then love him, then ahole... its great.

it really does seem like the island is a '2nd chance' opportunity for everyone, not that this is some mystical property of the island, but basic human nature as well, its almost like a fresh start, like an ability to start your life over, a 'reset' button, if you will. its getting to the point where it seems like these guys might not want to be rescued off the island.... although the whole Others-and-smokey-monster-imminent-death-on-any-day thing isnt the best home situation.

and i did pick up on that locke quote.. especially since there was a visible switch during that conversation. earlier he said "in THE hatch," and then the second time he said "in MY hatch, and I want him out of there."

you know what could be very interesting with henry gale... is if he is yet another "force" on the island... if his story actually is completely true (the balloon, dead wife, etc.) but his backstory is something completely different from there's (ala rousseau)... that he is not an Other, but maybe something else entirely. the "sickness" effected him in a different way then it did rousseau. maybe the sickness (and loss of alex) just amde rousseau a weird, hermit, esoteric nutjob, but turned henry into having delusions of grandeur... that he truly is the wizard of oz type character. since the wizard didnt belong in Oz any more than dorothy did. the wizard was never a part of Oz, and i dont think henry is a part of the island either, at least not in the same way the Others are a part of the island. Which means (absolutely nothing but) that the "He" that ethan and zeke were referring to outside of claire's room has not been revealed yet... the master Other... hanso?

and what in the hay is going on with michael/walt??? when are they bringing that storyline back??

Dammit Kex, just when I'm sure Jin is an a-hole, you bring up some very good points . Now I have to rethink everything again!

I've been wondering that for weeks. At least they did a little bit with Rose and her husband again. It seemed like they sailed off into the sunset after their reunion!

Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Great, great episode. Locke backstories are always awesome, although he had the mother of bad days! Losing your father, even if he is an a**hole (DeSoto didn't even thank him!), and your girlfriend/fiance in the same 5 minute span...hoo boy!

    OK, question time:

    1) Jack was in Thailand. Sawyer was in Thailand. Why? You just know they were both there at the same time. Also, this is the first we've had a real good look at Jack's tat, which even Sawyer noted. What is it and what does it mean? The poker episode was far too prevalent in the episode to be for naught. Jack's response as to why he didn't ask for the guns, "When I need the guns, I'll get the guns." was absolutely priceless.

    2) Henry isn't Henry, unless of course he suddenly contracted Michael Jackson's pigment disease. So who is he, and who was the real HG?

    3) The map. Clearly a diagram of what looks to be an underground, interlocking structure. Please tell me someone here can translate what looks to be latin. I gotta say, that whole scene was one of the coolest reveals this show has pulled so far. Locke pinned under the very door with a incandescent map, that's just great writing!

    4) Locke's father nets $700k on a retirement scam. Very Sawyerish, eh? Kate could also have some ties into this as well. Lord knows she's no angel.

Man, I just loved that episode and the trailer for next week looks terrific too!

Good Googly Moogly, Jim! You speak Latin! Will wonders ever cease?

So tell us, oh knowlegeable one, what does the one in the center of the map say?
Nil actum reputa si quid superest agendum
Something about not going against an agenda? Inquiring, and apparently less educated, minds want to know!

    FA,
Ooh, I like the balloon drop idea! Could the real HG have been there dropping off a supply parachute?

The new map is crazy, too. Cerberus, isn't that a mythological dog or something? Maybe this is where they were doing experiments on animals, which might explain why there is a polar bear and black stallion here. There are notes of zooligical research and gene therapy. The tyrannasaurus thingie that ate the pilot must be the "dracones" they are referring to, no?

BTW, note the "final resting place of Magnus Hanso, Blackrock." Wasn't something hidden under black rocks, too? Was it Charlie's drugs? Hurley's food? A letter for telling Red how to find Andy in Mexico?

I take a peep at that map and it's gone postal on me. I wonder if 20 years from now Losties will be as fondly remembered as Trekkies are?

I wonder if the show's producers/writers ever expected the collective intelligence of millions of viewers using employer resources to decipher the messages in that map?
