Hmmm... I was asking a couple of weeks ago if we would be seeing Bill Mummy. He played that little kid on the TZ as well as Delen's (Claire?) side kick on B-5.

alrighty then.... so ethan is an ob/gyn... didnt see that coming.

and.. the big reveal of the theater makeup and fake beard. was that zeke's fake beard? and the clothes in the locker, as if a 'costume.' Now why would the Others want to wear costumes? to appear as if they were something they're not, or to disguise themselves since they wouldnt be recognized?

was the guy talking to ethan at the door to claire's room Zeke? i thought that was him, just minus the beard and dirt. and so if claire was kidnapped in week 2 on the island, that means in the month and a half or so since then, the Others really cleared out of there, and maybe all the dharma stations? where are the Others hiding out now?

So the "virus" is a sham, right? Arron got better all by himself, there is no "outbreak." The clock is supposed to stop another "incident," however none of the Losties are sick, unlike the French chick's deceased crew. Was it real or imagined?

Love the way the captured Other is playing Locke. The trailer shows him recruiting Analucia for something so my guess is the next episode is going to be his backstory again. Clearly there's some control issues in his past that need to be revealed.

Speaking of the Other, what's the deal with Echo? Why, of all people, would he feel the need to give that guy his confession? And what's the significance of cutting off the tip of his beard?

BTW, did you catch how they said "coming up on Lost" instead of "next week?" Great, they're taking another week or two off. ABC sucks.

yeah, next week is a rerun again. new lost every two weeks i guess. not sure what abc's doing with their scheduling....

dont know whats going on with the "virus" but i have a feeling those weren't vaccination shots ethan was pumping into lil aaron. am guessing (another of my inane guesses) that whatever was in that vial was part of the dharma initiative, some sort of serum to test on aaron. maybe a mutant inducer or something like that. seeing as they have an incredible interest in walt and his strange/telepathic powers, it might have something to do with their research. will that show up in a backstory with michael/walt? was his wife's ob/gyn also ethan in the 'real world'. is walt a product of dharma science too?

i think eko confessed to the guy because it was that guy's friends who he killed. eko prolly thinks/knows that the guy is an Other, and so the Other's he killed were probably friends or comrades-in-arms, etc. of this guy.

the locke thing we'll defn get more info on (i hope) because he played locke WAY too easily. as smart as locke is/has been, he just got played way to easily, at least to that degree. i could see that was a nice seed planted by the other into locke, but for him to explode like that, means there's more to locke's backstory we are yet to know. UNLESS... locke did that as a 'show' for the other to hear, but... it doesnt seem like it given the trailer, since he said there's someone in MY bunker and I want him out to ana-lucia, so he doesnt want to be in the shadow of genius.

I'm not surprised by Locke's outburst. Let's remember that he went to Anger Management therapy. I think that there's a side to Locke that we haven't seen yet. He's all calm and "live and let live'. But he's gonna break. And when he does it's going to be good.

The whole serum thing has me confused. Think back to the episodes with Desmond. When we first met him in the hatch, they showed him getting up in the morning, showering, having breakfast...all normal morning rituals...then he shot something into his arm. When he ran from the hatch, he grabbed a handful of vials and put them in his bag. So whatever he was shooting up, he took some with him. He also left some behind. So, why aren't any of the Losties (mostly Dr. Jack) finding these vials and wondering what they are????? There's been absolutely no mention of them, but we know that Hurley and Rose took inventory of everything. So, where (and what) are the vials???!!!

P.S. I watched Lost, this week, on a big ship somewhere between Mexico and Jamaica. Sweeeeeeeet!

so i was watching Law and Order: SVU the other night on bravo or usa (one of the million repeats) and the story was about two cops who go about killing drug dealers. one of the cops is getting paid to do it, and one of the cops is doing it out of righteousness, out of revenge for the death of his brother. and who, praytell, was the holy, righteous cop you ask? well.... none other than our very own ethan!! (playing another character very much so like ethan all filled with righteousness!)

the vials - forgot about desmond injecting something into him in that early episode... wonder if its not really a vaccine but part of the dharma initiative psycho-mind altering stuff. has anyone found a screenshot of the vials that ethan was using? the labels were upside down and i couldnt really see any words on it other than the dharma symbol on them. my other off-the-wall theory is they are rabies shots and the dharma initiative is really paranoid about rabies on the island (quarantine), since the old format for treating diabetes was two intramuscular injections into the stomach a day and that's what ethan was doing... might be the key to everything. alvar hanso was bitten as a kid and had to have rabies shots, so he decided to create this strange island and the dharma initiative in order to get rid of rabies... yyyyyeah... that's the ticket.

the other thing i noted were the references the Other (what's his name?) made to locke. he made a music reference i thought from the 90's, and some other slightly dated reference (i thought)? i have this episode taped, will have to watch that last section again.

and what the hey is up with all these repeats! can we please get two new episodes in a row????

It was the bracelet's fault? I'll have to try that one on Mrs. GM.

    Another week, another repeat .

I'll say this tho, all of the Season 1 repeats that ABC keeps throwing at us simply reaffirms my belief that this season has lost (no pun intended) a step compared to the previous.

Besides, any episode that starts with Kate wet in teeny weenie panties has to be a winner. My wife says Sawyer was lookin' all ripped in there somewhere too, but I sure didn't see him .

You know, I'm almost tempted to wait for S2 on DVD at this point. At least I'll be able to watch two S2 episodes in a row.

I thought that tonight was supposed to be a new episode, but I just checked the TV Guide (and then the ABC site to confirm) and it's another repeat.

My interest is quickly waning. I'm sure that if we counted we'd find as many, if not more, repeats than new episodes aired since S2 started in Sept. I'm fed-up.

yeah without any kind of explanation as to why they are taking so long, its starting to get pretty crappy how they are presenting the show. if they just announced or had something out there like, becuase of weather conditions lost production has been stalled, or it just takes us two weeks to shoot every episode so we're sorry for the delay (which doesnt make sense given that season 1 progressed at a fairly fast rate without as many repeats), or even to say hey, its not us, its the network, we have the episodes, but just play it like good cop bad cop so the fans can still love lost but just be pissed at abc, but to just blindly keep showing repeats all season long...
my guess... is the shows popularity has killed its own production schedule. now all the cast members are "stars" and have other commitments or deals going on and so the production has slowed down to a crawl, simply because they cant get everyone they need there.

I guess it would be hard to fire cast members and bring in new ones. Unless another plane or ship or balloon crashes on the island...wouldn't that make an interesting plot twist!

I just sent an email to ABC from their web site. I want to be counted as one of the Lost fans who are pissed...

What's the deal with all the reruns? I'm sure that I've seen as many S1 reruns since Sept. than I've seen S2 episodes. The constant reruns are ruining the show. I'm fed-up and just about ready to stop watching. What's the point, when it seems to be one new episode for every two old ones!! I used to wait for Wed. night with anticipation to see what would happen next. Now I really don't care anymore. Lost is the best show in years. Sadly, the only thing "lost" this year is its momentum.

Edit: I just found this on one of the Lost message boards. I don't know if it's correct or not...assuming it is, it looks like we'll get treated with a string of new epis in May.

if only all the revenue from the dvd's could go elsewhere, its like abc doesnt care whether they make their money now or make more on the dvd sales. say you dont watch the season but then plan on buying the dvd, or you'll watch the show without as much religious conviction and hopefully catch a new episode once every other month or so, but then get the dvd to actually watch it with some degree of continuity... well then they still make their money. it's a phenomenal show, and right now, they are really treating their fans pretty crappily with these non-stop repeats, am not blaming the creators at all, just cant stand how abc is treating the show.

although it looks like theyre gonna build some momentum going into the finale (hopefully) which is prolly why the schedule is the way it is, just string everyone along extremely slowly and time it right to build up during the may sweeps to impress the advertisers. rather than just start the season a little later and not show so many freakin' repeats.

Finally was loaned Season 1 on DVD a few weeks back...been hooked since episode 2. What a great show. To catch up, I've had to download the Season 2 shows and watch them on my laptop. Oh well.
I haven't had the misfortune of having to wait weeks in between new episodes, so I'm probably not as ticked off as you guys (actually, I still have the last 3 shows to watch tonight). I have to say, I don't believe Season 2 has lost a step at all, having watched them all fairly recently, back-to-back for the first time. Season 2 to me seems to be progressing much faster, the actual episodes are a bit more entertaining now for the most part because the characters aren't being given their own "development show". Season 1 dragged on for a bit in the middle.

Anyway, I took a look at all the release dates of Season 1, and Season 2 is actually copying the same pace as Season 1 did, assuming FA's tentative schedule is correct. Guess we can't complain. From what I've seen, it doesn't appear to be all that unusual when compared to some other drama series.

It's been hard not to read spoilers here...hopefully by tomorrow I can catch up on the last 2 pages of this thread and be up to date.

BTW - going by memory here, but the extas on the DVD's claim the writers already have the first 6 or 7 seasons written out...anyone believe that?

I have feeling they're just using a Ouija board to move this story along...But I do believe we're purposely being fed info by the "unreliable narrator", IMO.

Anyhoo...great thread everyone...looking forward to chiming in from week-to-week (or month-to-month, as it were).

One of the explanations for the repeats on the Lost site that I was on this morning, said that this is normal. The TV season runs from Sept to May. Let's say we run from mid-Sept to mid-May...that's 35 weeks. But every show (not just Lost) only tapes 23 episodes per season. So we get 12 weeks of reruns or of the show not airing at all.

I'm a big fan of ER also. I watch faithfully every Thursday night. And there have probably been as many weeks off ER this season as there have been Lost. The difference is, ER doesn't need to maintain that same momentum as the episodes aren't nearly as intricately linked. So, if I don't see a new ER for a fews weeks...no biggie. But if I don't see a new Lost in couple of weeks, I lose that feeling of anticipation that is such a big part of the whole Lost viewing experience. Plus, I forget what's happened in the last episode, so I've lost that very important connection.

I think that ABC would be better off shortening the Lost season (start it in November) and playing fewer reruns.

Hey kex! Welcome to the official AR Lost Thread! Can't wait to hear some of your theories...

You pointed out that S2 is running along the same schedule as S1. That might be true. Maybe part of my problem is that I watched S1 in summer reruns, so there was a new
Epi every week and sometimes 2 epis in a week. Because the summer season is so much shorter than the regular season, even with doubling up episodes, there were still a few episodes that they skipped and I've had to watch on DVD. So maybe I became spoiled from watching it that way.

So, I watched S1 in a short timeframe and it rocked my world. I've watched S2 in drips and drabs since Sept and it's been a bit of a drag. I'll be that if I watch S2 again in summer reruns or on DVD I'll see it's strength, but right now it just seems so much weaker than S1 did.

I'll have to agree with FA on this one Kex. This kind of show would do better to go back to the old fassion way. That is, show the 23 new episodes in a row. Then go back and show the best reruns after that.
    Just MHO.
Then again, why mess with what seems to be working?

Because it's not working. Lost was a Top 5 show last year, right behind Desparate Housewives. It's not even in the Top 20 now! You could get away with it during S1 because they would pretty well dedicate every episode to a single character and give you the backstory. Now that we have that info, they have been dedicating more to the overall story such as The Others, Walt's kidnapping, Claire's baby, etc. This is the type of show that snowballs. IOW, once it get's rolling, it gets bigger, faster, and harder to get out of it's own way. That's a good thing. FA has it right, they have killed all the momentum with this season, and apparently we're not the only ones getting fed up with it !!

I don't buy the 23 episodes into 35 weeks bit. 24, another show built on momentum with a similar flowing storyline, it told uninterrupted until the finale. That's one of the things that makes it so great! If Fox can do it, so can ABC.

if they thought it out, (albeit would require some serious planning) but they could do with all these reruns IF they said, Next Week: Repeat of the episode House of the Rising Sun WITH one bonus scene that will further explain a connection/issue/etc. kinda like a director's cut. i would gladly rewatch an episode with a bonus scene in it. but lost really isnt like any other show in that it is one continuous storyline. and shouldnt be treated like ER or any other drama. you're 24 analogy is perfect, and seriously if even Fox can figure out how to program a show (and they destroy programming for every great show) then abc should be able too.

I agree completely. If it were working, we wouldn't be having this discussion. 24 was used as an example in the same explanation thread on the other site. The person wasn't saying that this was the way it should be, only that this is the way it is. The 24 season starts in January and runs straight through with no reruns. This is how Lost needs to be shown.

Let me at those ABC executives. Just lemme at 'em! (what? no smilie with boxing gloves?!)

I had a punching thingie for you, but it doesn't seem to be working now

Here's an interesting article with quotes from the producers regarding the re-runs. There's also some fun theories, including one that links the similarities between Henry (the captured Other) and the Wizard of Oz. How the hell this slipped by us, I dunno.

BTW, welcome to our demented little corner of the forum, Kex!

edit: I have no f'ing idea why that link is screwed up when I post, but just put the "y" next to the "t" in celebrity and it should work
