Still running Dad's old Realistic Lab-400 (Radio Shack...so probably made by a big brand manufacturer in the 70's). Have the tape deck around (also Realistic 70's vintage...Dad was a Radio Shack fanatic) somewhere too...though it's not hooked up at this point. Ran my Advent Prodigy's running until about a year ago when the hubby got me Cerwin Vega's CVHD 5.1 system. The Advents needed woofer repair, so I fixed them and gave them to a family member...hope he appreciates them as much as I did.

Actually, speaking of Dad, think he's still running a beast of a receiver/amp from Realistic and speakers from the 70's too. Looking forward to maybe acquiring those someday! I can set up his full system again...in my house!
    kAt.

    • Receiver: H/K AVR 145
    • SACD; Sony SCD-C2000ES
    • Turntable 1: Realistic Lab-400
    • Turntable 2: Stanton T.90 USB
    • Mixer: Stanton M202
    • Speakers: Cerwin Vega CVHD 5.1 Surround
    • DVD: JVC XV-N412
    • TV: 27" Sony Wega Trinitron (soon to be retired to the bedroom).

Hand me down Sansui SPX8000 speakers and I do love them. Ultimately I want to upgrade but I am afraid of getting rid of them!

    GlenB,

That Pioneer SA-7100 is a sweet unit. I used the 9100 for a long spell during the 80's.

Not likely, I have plans for it. I've already invested about $150 in the DC protection/delay, new connectors and brand new captive power cord. Next will be a recap when I have the time.

Real clean looking. Ive had 2- 400's for quite a while, they have never been serviced. Ive used them with a Carver 4000 through a variety of speakers. They are very smooth and laid back. Ive always enjoyed them. When you finish, I'll ship you mine to do.lol, I only live down the road from you a bit.

I have a fond memory of the FM-5 as it was the first Dyna I built from a kit. Shoulda kept it over the years, but didn't. And it actually worked in the end.

The thing is a real workhorse. I bought it at a flea market twelve years --ago it think for $30 It tunes better and much better sound than a newer Sony digital tuner I tried to replace it with. (I ended up giving the Sony away.)

I too built an FM 5 from kit these many years ago. As I recall, I kept it until I bought the Denon TU-500, (below), in '79. Undoubtedly the Denon was better.

About a year ago I sold the TU-500 and bougth a semi-vintage TU-767. The latter is not better, but I paid 1/4 the price I got selling former

    Recently ...

Recently I acquired the nice Marantz 1070 integrated amp, 35 wpc, for a good price on eBay. It has the expected, robust, vintage Marantz sound. Unfortunately I really have nowhere to set it up so I might end up selling it.

    Somewhat rare

Yes, the TU-750 is fairly rare. The drum-type tuning dial is unusual, as are the meters. They can measure power either from the tuner or an external device; the left one doubles as a signal strength at the flip of a switch. Note the outputs for an osciliscope. The back looks like this:
