As for me, just discovered the Abecedarians a few days ago, and been listening a lot to the double 10" The Other Side of the Fence that was released in 1990, about when they called it quits. Some nice stuff on here. Click pic for more info and samples.

^yep, that David Sylvian is great and aged pretty well. 'Course he's still making music that sounds very similar. I put on his Nine Horses, Snow Borne Sorrow (2005) pretty often too. Another really gorgeous album that veers a little towards 'adult contemporary' -sounding sometimes but really rich, layered, and nicely played/recorded songs.

    otherwise tonite,

    James Blake - Klavierwerke ep

    Opeth - Blackwater Park

    Emptyset: Demiurge

I'm too lazy today to write anything...here's a blurb found online:

Multiverse - the constellation of forward-thinking Bristol labels that also includes Tectonic, Kapsize and Caravan - reactivates its seminal Subtext imprint (best known for those mind-melting early Vex'd singles) for a daring new LP from Emptyset. A collaboration between Mutiverse boss James 'Ginz' Ginzburg and Paul Purgas, Demiurge is the second album by Emptyset, and finds them reducing their production process down to a singular signal chain channelled into a modulated analogue hardware line (or so we're told). The results are somewhere between drone, techno, noise, power electronics and the very outer limits of dubstep: in other words, audio porn for the more serious soundboys and girls among you. The duo's reliance on stomach-aching subs and ear-grazing blasts of static make clear their love of, and debt to, the work of Mika Vainio and Pan Sonic, and 'Void' reminds us of last year's blink-and-you-missed it Suum Cuique record: electronic music with real physical presence. 'Point' and 'Function' wrestle a kind of juddering techno groove out of jagged comper shrapnel, reminding us of the Raster-Noton bods like Byetone, Ikeda and Alva Noto at their most brutal and direct. 'Periphery' conjures the groaning, haunted interiors of Alien and Event Horizon, while the mid-paced warfunk of 'Tangent' sounds like it could raze Bristol to the ground if played out on a rig that’s up to it, and 'Monad' is an ear-walloping exercise in loop/edit delirium, coming over like Errorsmith in the depths of a black depression. The message is clear: in space, no one can hear you scream

Good **** and some serious bass if you're into that.

If you don't like the Impressions, there's something wrong with you. This is one of their finest albums.

Yeah, it's hard to transition from Art Blakey straight into punk...if done wrong it can send your system straight into shock. No such worries today. I'm starting off life in the bush of ghosts...

Excellent. I would have loved to have been there, but I did have a nice time with my (now) 5-year-old daughter, putting makeup on her new hairstyling/makeup head (and a bit of eyeshadow on me).

I did listen to these albums (records for the 1st two, and mp3s for the third):

And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

My wife ridicules my fondness for the 80s whenever I play that Duran Duran. Brings back memories.

Actually, one memory in particular. During the high school years I worked in our local hardware/appliance/TV/electronics store in town. I was the only floor employee under 50 so I got to set up all the TVs & VCRs and these brand new laser disk players. We also rented out laser disks. When I saw the Duran Duran laser disk come in I thought to myself, "What a great way to show off a cutting edge AV setup!" So I loaded up the disk, on repeat, had it playing on the main display projection set and wandered off to unpack washers and dryers. A couple hours later I came in and saw semi naked women pillow fighting sumo wrestlers and such on the projection TV and about had a heart attack. I was pretty certain I was about to lose my job. Fortunately, thanks to living in a tiny, slow town, the only person who saw it was the old guy I did deliveries with...who was standing there watching as I came in. He said something about how I should probably turn it off and wandered away. Love that album.

I'm going to give it a guilty pleasure listen right now .
