I have to say, I'm really loving the way the AVA OmegaStar 250 in this system, fed with the HQ-1 as pre with GA#560 power all in the PSAudio Quintet with GA#560 power cord, does to this Frank LP.

Seems weird, but allmusic has this LP at 2 stars. I'm really digging in. Maybe people don't know what to do with the talking tracks. Maybe they just seem not too out of the ordinary for these youthful ears.

What I like best about this is the strings. The AVA just seems to handle strings like this so well. I have a Henry Mancini LP, I believe Strings on Strings and it just sounds so wonderful. Gives these thin string sections depth and body. The bass is soft and a bit blurred, and Frank's voice is just floating above everything else. Really a wonderfully calming sound. I just wish the LP was new and wasn't crackling. Oh well. Shouldn't ask too much from an LP made in '69 or something.

    Shonen Knife: Free Time

It's poppy garage punk. It's part English part Japanese. They're adorable. They sing about food and stuff. It's exactly what you expect. It's the new Shonen Kife album.

Some of my best-sounding LPs are from the 60s. They almost always need a through cleaning when I buy them, unless the previous owner did it. I've cleaned some records as many as three times, but the age isn't a problem.

Spinning the little shiny discs today, instead of the big ones...

Excellent call, Poppa! Robbie Robinson is certainly the man around these parts....Excellent, heartfelt lyricism, evocative, haunting, beautiful music that just soars over you like an eagle, images that just dance in the room long after the music has ended (or has it?)....Oh, yeah, RR is one of the greats fer sure!

By de way, Oh Amigo of Amigos....Ya know thissun, right?

I have his entire collection on CD and 3 on vinyl. I also have all his work with the Band. He also backed Rockin Ronnie Hawkins WAY back in the day. Of course, the Band backed Dylan, whose albums I have also. Probably my favorite period for Dylan with the exception of Infidels.

Big time recommendation here. Just a really refreshing sound. Fantastic blend of jazz, rock and blues.

I like that some of the drum strikes on Choas A.D. make the preggers cat that adopted us jump up from napping and look around.

Kind of makes me wonder, does it make the sound more real, or mean great dynamics, if a cat or dog gets scared?

Heres on for you Mr.Peabody...Simone Simons of Epica.

I think Epica is the only Gothic band I will ever like....Oh btw Mr.P....I've been telling all who likes Gothic about Epica, and no one has ever heard of them, but they listen and the love it.
