    I pulled this puppy out the other day as I was digging through the pile in search of some "back porch" music. Dana Owens, AKA Queen Latifa, released the album in 2005, to no little acclaim. Her intonation, phrasing and control are all superb evidence that the lady is a true, blue professional. Likewise, the accompanying arangements of her big band swings and blows right into your ears with a rare suppleness and zest that just isn't heard that much nowadays. A very good listen and lots of fun!

    While I was checking out some Madeleine Peyroux samples I ran across this group called Pink Martini which I liked a lot. I think it's a group, maybe the singer is named Pink. Anyway I'm putting one of the albums on my hit list.

    I also listened to the Puppini Sisters which was very interesting. I don't think it's for me but some of you might want to check them out. Sort of a modern day Andrew Sisters thing. In fact, one of the albums I checked out has covers of Mr. Sandman and Boogoe Woogie Bugle Boy.

    I thought the busy times would be over once the move was complete but 'twas not to be. I'm still trying to catch up and I still haven't come up with a new storage system after having abandoned my trusty cabinetry. Thus, my spare bedroom has become a chaotic library of sounds...sorta like a real-world Media Player on random and whatever pile ya reach in always has some goodies...

    So, I broke into the palace

    Sometimes an LP is worth buying for the cover. Wandering around in my Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raiit and Emmylou Harris vinyl, these days... a pretty big stack, so it might take a while.

    The new Gomez is in heavy rotation over here. Like it. A New Tide is an album which shows a return to roots, and it seems as though every different style they have experimented with has been wrapped up with this album. Good recording too.

    Anne Bisson - Blue Mind

    The first time you hear Bisson's crystal clear voice, you'll likely get shivers down the spine. Melodies soar with a delicate confidence through changes that are a unique blend of late night jazz and vocal accomplishment. One of the best recordings I have ever heard and a superb pressing to boot. Why can't they all be recorded like that? All songs here are self penned, apart from the brilliant Steve Hackett writen - Hoping Love Will Last.
