Gardening Duty today. Cutting the lawn, weeding the vegetable plot and several other pointless exercises. havn't got a clue what I am doing, but keeps the other half happy.
There is very cold bottle of Pilsner Urquell with my name on it in the fridge but first things first. On the spot goes:

    "Dave Alvin - Blackjack David".

Hope you all have a great weekend

    Peace

Made it through the gardening yesterday. Was actually quiet enjoyable. However we are starting the week with an old favourite of mine:

"Luther Allison - Live in Chicago".

I knew you'd make it. No gardening here, my friend, as we're back to the weather of a month ago. Bleak is the order of the day, so I am awaiting what must surely be an impending blizzard...

Mark, do not despair. Stop and start again.
I am working my way through my Easter music haul and currently in residence on the round spot are:

"The Maryhillbillys - Meet the Maryhillbillys".

Some combination believe me. Hard drinking Aussie musicians and a scottish singer displaying their love of Country music. Good time music and witty lyrics. Cooking Vinyl.

    Peace

Freaky weather here too. Promise of a fine sunny one and now had to stop and come inside due to monsoon like rain and wind. Bloody hell.

So a somber mood is being created by:

"Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring".

A damn fine album never the less.

Wow, last time I played this was in spring of 1999. I was driving from eastern Tennessee to Asheville, North Carolina with my crew. Man, I miss that feeling we had. Good times.

I just picked that one up on LP yesterday with the Final Cut replacing my CDs. It was like listening to Rog/Reg for the first time again. Their appearance at the Hydes Park was great. Nice touch by MTV to zoom in on that factory.

    Tom Waits - Alice

Django - Memorial Album Vol. 2. I wish the recording was better but it was in 1947.

    Hey j,
You might want to check some Bireli Lagrene, particularly his earlier works--very Djangoish with better sq. It's my understanding that they had several significant similarities, not the least of which being background and upbringing. Lagrene's earliest work in 1980/81 took factions of the guitar world by storm in terms of technique and composition. Later, he went on to play jazz/fusion with Jaco Pastorius.

    Now spinning: Thelonius Monk~Monk

    Cheers and good listening

Yeah, that'll defintely be worth spinning. I will go check it out in a few, but first I have Norman Granz - Jam Session. I pulled it out last night as a reminder, and oddly I feel like listening to it. A great classic line-up.

    Great weekend

You're right, it's very cool--love Dvorak. I have the 8th (Szell) on SACD which you have inspired me to play next. However...
