Haven't heard JFH in a long time. 10+ years ayway. I recall it being brittle and kinda harsh. As you say, the tech that makes the timbres has improved vastly in 18 years.

Still, I think the writing on that disc is remarkable. It's about as fast and complex as can be. I've heard a few covers of some songs from that album by human bands and they are amazing songs.

Thanks again. I just gotta say that JFH is an unfair comparison becuase the tech is so much better today. Imagine what a real musician, someone with a basis in theory etc could do with it! Nothing would make me smile more than to see what all you guys could do with it too. I'm working on some new songs too. I've developed a really great grindy guitar sound so I'm exploring that a lot. I'm also thinking about buying a mic. Lots of people have told me to add vox, but I'm more than a little intimidated by that . . .
