the sacrifice abraham story was brilliant to. because abraham was willing to sacrifice isaac and would have, but god saved isaac. is that what the island is telling desmond? you must be willing to let go of trying to save charlie and have faith that charlie will NOT die. Since abraham (i believe) was down to the second of bringing that knife to his son's neck before the angel intervened, that's what desmond may have to do too... let go of charlie..
I think that Charlie was a pawn in this episode. Only Desmonds last minute choice to save Charlie prevented his death. Remember Desmond only brought Charlie, Hurly and Jin along because he felt that it was KEY for meeting up with Penny. But, Penny hadn't actually been revealed in his 'vision'. But Desmond (initially) was willing to sacrifice Charlie in order to get through the vision as it was presented.
I think that the Island is making Desmond feel the burden of preventing Charlies death. Havent figured out why, but I think that is in his nature to simply live with the burden. Similar to his vow of silence. He quietly suffered eventhough no one had faith in him.

This sort of continues the general theme of redemption for all the 815 survivors. Maybe the island gives second chances to everyone, including Desmond, and now his purpose is to keep Charlie alive (or part of his purpose...) as penance or the price of redemption.

When Desmond was being fired by the head Monk, did you guys see the photo on his desk? It was the head Monk and the lady who sold Desmond Penny's ring! I rewinded several times to make sure. That was weird. Not sure how it all relates other than to show everyone in the show is somehow connected.

I saw that too, but couldn't remember who the girl was. Thanks.
It seemed strange that they showed that picture so prominently, so I went back to review. She seemed familiar but couldn't place her.

Some interesting thoughts about the significance of the photograph at Sledgeweb's site...

is now if desmond gets sent back AGAIN to that same monastery flashback, but with his 'time jump' knowledge and we see the same scene again, but now with him trying to alter reality while the monk/dharma try and keep him on course....
maybe he doesn't even want to meet penelope, and so tries not to.. almost with a little "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' type of deal.. he may not want the pain of hurting her, but no matter what, he is drawn to that relationship...

Hey Kam,
I don't think I ever got to thank you for the input you gave me on the Sanyo projector. So thanks, they work great. I already have over 1200 hours on one of them.
Nice hat. Snicker snicker...:ciappa:

OOOO That's very tempting. Parasound is on my short wish list right after the Mini's. You're on the north end right? That's not too bad. I better do it soon though. I see they want to start charging people to drive into the city.

yep! top corner of the city. it's a weird setup but works, with the parasound running the front, an aragon running the rears, and the marantz carrying the center channel by itself. i thought it might sound weird at first, but honestly, i can't pick up a difference in sound when i'm listening to movies on it across the front to rear transitions.

You've got to love a good LOST ep in HD with HT.

Sorry folks, I watched last week's epi in San Diego. 10:00pm there was, like, 1:00am for me. And I'd been up for about 20 hours by that time, so I was half asleep. I really need to rewatch it as I know that I missed quite a bit of detail being too tired to really pay attention.
But I am looking forward to tonight. Who is that woman in the parachute? And how does she know Desmond? And WHO is the father of Sun's baby??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

North end of Manhattan?

Interesting I'm working on an electric line and substation that'll run from Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers, through the Bronx, across the Harlem River and end at Academy Street near 10 and 9th Ave. How far am I from ya?

Well... Great episode at least.
I speculated long and hard that they might be in "limbo" or being tested by angles/devils before being "sent back" or some other such nonsense. But according to chute girl, they're all dead and accounted for. Due to time dialation do they have a chance to "reappear" in our time line. Do they go back in time and NOT get on the plane, at least the good people don't?
Boris is suddenly "alive and well" is he a gatekeeper in hell? Is deat NOT permanent on the Island? Sigh, more questions. But one thing I know for sure I want Charlie dead so bad I can taste it. I'm REAL sick of that whining little Turd. I personally wish the friggin Orc's had eaten him years ago and saved us all this misery.

I think it's as simple as Flight 815 being fabricated by the Others or Dharma, and the world believed that they were all accounted for. They probably didn't want a squad of SeaKings hovering around their little island.

Ha ha... I hate him and find him annoying too, but more as a credit to the actor's ability to play a whiny ex-smack junkie than pure genuine hatred. Show wouldn't be the same without the one survivor you want to die.

...actually a dogmatic update...This week the Pope Benedict XVl, donning his "cloak of infallibility" in such matters, has decreed there is no limbo ('ceptin' for Chubby Checker that is)...
jimHJJ[...besides, given their trials and tribulations, purgatory (a purification of sorts) make more sense...]
P.S. More importantly, how did Celine Dion do a rather convincing duet with Elvis?...

I was upstairs playing "Chronicles of Riddick" when my son's mum starts screaming about "seeing Elvis singing LIVE". I was dialing up Da Boys from Bellevue when I decided to take a look at what the hell she was babblin' bout. Sure as chit, there was the King in a duet with Titania... It was creepy. You won't be able to trust ANYTHING on video now ala "Running Man" as they can now re-write both history and reality with FX's.

Worf uses batleff as erzats cricket bat while playing pick up game with Charlie and Mr. Eko. Eko smiles as I "accidently" gut Charlie with a swing. Worf walks away smilin'!!
