Which receiver would be good for power for driving my smaller advents o ya and it must be 4 ohms. And around 200 dollars and i dont feel like buying off the internet thanks jeff."

WTF? You said you had $200. What was the point of this whole thread? And why you dont trust a trusted ebayer with great feedback is beyond me.

Plus my mom and dad wont let me buy off of the internet.

Well thats the scooter companies fault, not ebays or whatever. The same thing would have happened if you bought it at a store.

    Hi Jeff,

Just thought I would check in again since things don't seem to be working out for you. First you seem to be going in several directions at once and you're not able to make any progress. First, make a plan and establish a budget for it. A suggestion is get a cheap minisystem or cd-radio ($50-100) to tide you over. If you already have one, use it. Since you are just starting out and your purchasing options are limited, the best thing for you to do might be shopping at stores like Best Buy or Circuit City. It's not just that they have affordable stuff but also they have decent return, exchange and refund policies which are a great help when you have problems. Just make sure to unpack carefully and keep everything (like packing, manuals, unused hardware, etc.) in the box. Be absolutely sure to keep your receipts and learn the time limits for returns. Once you have some experience and a little more independence (and money) you can get nicer stuff and maybe venture into the used market. A possible plan might go like this: 1) What do I need? A receiver and cd player (I already have speakers which I can refoam while I'm getting money for other items). 2) What do I get first? A receiver. I can use the tuner while I save for a cd player. 3) What is my budget? $200. 4) What can I get for $200? Sony stereo receiver ($140 on sale at BB). Toshiba dvd player for cd/dvd play ($60 at BB). 5) Get regular speaker wire at Radio Shack or Home Depot, 16 guage is fine and use the interconnects that come with the cd player. You're just starting out, you don't need to be fancy. 6) How do I finance things? Save your gift money, chore money, allowance, or part time job earnings.

This is just an example, but this or something like this, can work for you. I'm sorry if this seems like an old fogey talking down to the new guy but I am not talking down to you, I want you to succeed! And, actually, I am an old fogey! Just remember that the most important, and difficult, thing to do is be patient. Make a good, realistic plan that you can actually accomplish, then stick to your plan and don't get distracted by things that don't matter. If interruptions occur that you can't avoid, like something really necessary that you have to buy, then just return to your plan as soon as you can. Don't hesitate to talk things over with family and friends since they can help you with many things like earning cash and finding good deals. You can get what you want Jeff, just get organized and work hard to accomplish your goals. Best of luck.

just look in thrift stores and stuff. i found a Proton D-940 in a store for $8 and it's excellent condition, thats the best deal i've gotten so far but it's just one of those things that takes a little time. do yourself a favor and avoid new onkyo stuff

Don't buy off the internet. There are waaaaaaay too many scams and con artists out there. I have bought some of my things used, but only from people I know or places I can easily drive to and see the gear myself. You can use the internet to find deals, just don't buy unless the deal is in person.

Sorry, I never owned an 8-track player but I do think that one in good working order would be somewhat rare because they stopped making 8-track tapes quite a long time ago.
