Think of this like AR's litter box.

It's not pretty, but better than having the ****e all over the other boards.

I find Sir T’s colorful outburst to be fun to read. Maybe he gets a little rough around the edges, but that’s part of his charm. That goes for everyone else around here. I enjoy reading the dynamic exchanges between many of our members here. It was one of the things that kept me coming back every day when I first joined. It’s also one of the things that have dwindled off over the years. If you ask me, we need more spirited conversations, not less. I’ve learned a ton reading these threads. Seeing both sides of a point of view is critical to really learning it. But maybe some of the name calling could be curbed huh? That can lead to hurt feelings and the loss of good members.

Are there really members here who've left because someone called them a name or was abrasive? I wouldn't give anyone that level of control over me.

I don't see Nightflier or Groundbeef around any more. It's one thing to attack some of us who are used to it or wouldn't be surprised but we all should go easy on new posters. I'd like to keep AR alive and thriving, harsh replies and name calling is a sure way to turn off new posters. I'm sure that guy in the Dual Center Channel exchange won't be back.

I dunno Mr P, I like to think there more than just one guy to correspond with here than Sir T. I wonder how those who are put off will react to the Terrences they encounter on a daily basis. They're in all walks of life. They're on every work crew, every office floor, every sound studio, every sandlot and playground. They're everywhere, all over the world. Sometimes it makes for an interesting discussion, sometimes it makes for an inflated military budget. You can't always meet aggression with aggression. Sometimes you gotta rope-a-dope while the other dude finishes beating his chest.

I have not come out against tube gear. One can get very good sound using tube gear, but of course, one can get very good sound using SS gear, too. I have good reasons for preferring solid state gear but sound quality isn't one of them: reliability, low maintenance, low output impedance, flat frequency response into speaker loads, stable performance over long periods of time. Also, most speakers are designed with a low impedance source in mind--true, there are tube amps which have a lowish output impedance, but the ones I have seen are expensive, and should sound about the same as a decent SS amp. Maybe those are not very important considerations to you, but they are to me.
