    Yes, the best placement for the flattest bass response (usually in or near a corner) and the best placement for the stereo image (usually away from room surfaces) are usually different. One could get something designed for corner placement, like the Allison Three, now available again, which makes them coincide:

    I don't think I have gotten the bass response as even as you have, but I think skeptic exaggerates the problem. I really haven't had that much problem getting satisfactory integration of the subwoofer with either dipoles or forward radiating speakers.
