    Moving - need bookshelf advice!

I'm temporarily moving to an apartment that is way too small for my current speakers so I am looking to get some smaller bookshelf speakers. My limit is roughly $500CAD and I wont likely be able to afford more. This will be used mostly for music, I listen to mostly rock/metal but there is going to be a wide variety of music played through these speakers. More than likely I will be using my Yamaha receiver as a pre-amp with my Adcom GFA-555 powering the speakers.

I do have 2 possible issues, the speakers will not be stand mounted, and they will be sitting on a credenza/bookshelf thing about the height of a normal desk. The other issue is that I will not be using a subwoofer, so something with decent bass would be nice. If you think stands are a must then they will have to be figured into the price.

I am leaning towards either the Paradigm mini monitor or monitor 3, but I am more than open to any suggestions you guys may have. I live in Canada so ebay is not reliable since shipping can cost more than the item itself. Other brands I will have no trouble auditioning are Energy, Totem (pircey!), Def Tech, Mission, Polk and with more difficulty I could get to some B&Ws.

    Thanks.

I have the perfect pair for you...

If you want to DIY you can build these for a little over $200 in parts. That doesn't include labor.

go under speakers and look at the RS150 and MDT20. If you're not into DIY I would be willing to sell a pair for $300.00 which is actually pretty cheap considering how much time it takes to finish them.

The PSB Image B25 would be worth a look, especially since it is front ported. Good luck.

i would try the energy c-1's or c-3's. the c-3's will give you more bass but also is about 50$ more. they have stands avalible and i beleive you can get the c-1's with stands used for about 350$....

theses are the c-1 on ebay...i cant find any c-3s and i think any old stand will work....i think u would be better off useing the dest and the money for stands on the c-3's.

B&W 303 may fit the bill to add to some of the ones already mentioned.
