The puddles are not that big. If I had to guess volume, I'd say less than 50 gallons. They are actually ruts in a field left after some construction.

Each mating toad "couple" lay about 3000-5000 eggs in a shot. That can make for some crowded swimming conditions in the puddles. Good for hungry fish, not so good for the tadpoles

By nature, toads don't like to lay eggs in water with fish...no wonder they avoid my pond.
