Alge helps oxygenate the water during the day, as it converts sunlight to O2 for the fish. However, during the night, there is NO SUN, and the alge "sucks" up all the O2.

So during the day, its all peaches and cream. However, at night, the fish suffer quite a bit. I'm hoping to get this solved soon. I hate spring. Pond maintenace is a ***** in the spring.
How about if I toss a couple of those ladies into the pond with instructions to "clean up that mess?"
