Chillin' out this morning with Senhora de Lapa, a great release from Maria Ana Bobone. Acoustic and ephemeral, this Latin songstress brings forth equal parts Eva Cassidy, Elizabeth Frasier, and Ana Caram. Another solid rec from Bernd. Thanks B!
Before that it was Blood on the Tracks. You all know it. Decent SACD, but I'm not ready to drink the kool-aid yet...

Cheers and great weekends to all

A little laid back old time ska with Desmond Dekker fits the bill to wake up on a Sunday morning.

Glad you like her. She is rather good isn't she?

A new week.Another Jazz record to get to know:

"Count Basie and the Kansas City 7"

A re-release from speakers corner on 180 gr. Vinyl. This album swings a bit.

    Peace

Mornin' B, or I guess good evening on your side,

Yes, she is quite good, topping many of the others in that ethereal female vocalist genre in my estimation. I did a Google Image Search on her this morning...what a looker! VAVAVOOOM!!! Inappropriate or not, I'd walk ten miles to lick the lug nuts on the truck that drove her panties to the cleaners. Lovely.Attachment 2273

    Right...

Now spinning is 'Round Midnight by the Claude Williamson Trio. A lovely little gig from 1957, it benefits from 20-bit Mastering. From the Bethlehem Jazz Series.

I never thought I'd own a disc with "The Surrey With The Fringe On Top"...

You're bringing the tone down, man. If I knew that that would happen.....

Anyway spinning right now one of yours:

"Mighty Sam McClain - Sweet Dreams".

Fits in rather well after Count Basie.

    Peace

Ouch. Forgive me for the GMichael moment...nevermind that was all me:ihih:

I'm lovin' that Mighty Sam McClain myself; get's alot of play around these parts. I'm currently sticking with the swinging stuff right now--Mark O'Connor's Hot Swing Trio with guests Wynton Marsalis and Jane Monheit, all in glorious electrostatic multi-channel SACD...

Mighty Sam McClain? I'm gonna have to look into that after the 14th.
Kex inspired me to spinning one of my fav.

    Freddie King - Texas Cannonball.

NS: Orig Press: Stanley Turrentine Rough 'n Tumble. I can't believe I forgot about this album. Blue Mitchel, Pepper Adams, Grant Green, and McCoy Tyner.... I remembered this was in a G condition, but I never got to deep clean it. Now it's playing like a VG++. I wonder what'll happen if I ever get a VPI Vac? Probably make me wish I never spent $500.

    Happy Listening,

I just picked it up because it was 60% off, and it turned out to be a great purchase.

I'm sure he's pretty popular, but I've never heard off him. I just kinda picked it up. Ahhh this is exactly why I love Jazz.

Seems like a good afternoon to go on a music hunt, but the morning spinning isn't quite over...Attachment 2279 hehehe

Lovin' some modern blues/funk. Is there a human alive who doesn't like the Hammond B-3?

If you like old school r&b, you'd probably dig this. A throwback to the neosoul thing, which I always liked. Maybe not quite as good as his debut, but another nice set of tunes really well done.

Havent had luck with Mighty Sam McClain or John Legend on SACD... I think I'll place an order instead of driving around.

I think stacks of vinyl will satisfy my Windigo today.

    Currently,

    Best Coast Jazz/Cliff Brown

and it sounds smoother than my ass after a long shower. I love it.

When we talk about Hi-Rez music generally we're talking about SACD or DVD-A, but today I picked up a title in the 24/96 DAD format. Blue Note/Classic Records re-release of Hank Mobley's 1961 effort Roll Call. What a great surprise!

Not all the Classic re-issues are spot on, but this is one of the many that is. Highly recommended...

For some reason I started itching for some Miles. Pulled out 6LP set called 12 sides of Miles.

Sketches of Spain will do just fine.

I was in a great mood this morning, and decided to spin:

Louis Armstrong - On the Sunny Side of the Street

I occassionally see this 84 yr old gentleman playing his clarinet on the way to school. He's always happy to play me a song for a minimal fee. But now whenever he sees me coming, he'll start playing that title track for free. Time like that I gotta put my Ipod away and enjoy real music.

Today's offerings are bit of lo-fi, as it were: Thelonius Monk's Genius of modern Music Vol. in glorius mono. RVG actually does a darn fine job on an album originally recorded in 1947...

    Good day to all

    Good Day to you too.
Whilst decorating the Kitchen I enjoyed these:

    "My Morning Jacket - Z"

"Steve Earle, Townes van Zandt, Guy Clark - Together at the Bluebird"

    Peace
