So I show up for work today and on my chair was a new copy of JJ Cale and Eric Claptons latest collaboration--The Road To Escondido. One of the ladies and I where talking about this last week and I guess she was out shopping, spotted it and picked it up for me.
Any time these two masters get together it's magic. This includes remake of Cale's-Don't Cry Sister Cry..WOW. Back up musicians include Billy Preston, Taj Mahal, Albert Lee, John Mayer and David Teegarden.
So if you like folksy blues check it out.

Just packed up my PS Audio Duet for a return. I was hoping to discover half of what Mr. Pexperienced, but didnt happen. I'm much more happier with REL T3.
Adding a sub was no brainer. Only 150 watts, but I only turn it up 1/3 of availble volume.

I was expecting the worst recording of all-time based on reviews I've read. For that I wasnt expecting Telarc quality, but it's actually not that bad of an indoor arena recording. Glad I got it. Too bad I've only seem him once.

Did I need another recording of "The Four Seasons"? I did not think so until I heard this in Barnes and Noble. Walked in heard this overhead and went straight back to inquire about the recording. Usually I recognize music but this really caught my ear. I was even willing to pay B & N prices for the cd. Excellent recording of the orchestra and the harp playing is very enjoyable and not gimmicky. If someone had suggested this before I heard it I think I would have dismissed it. This has been one of my best musical finds in a long time. Lately any good discoveries have been gifts from friends.

After working 60.5 hours this week for no over-time pay...I'm enjoying music quite a bit today. I think it has to do with gifts I received from one of our dear members. Thanks Roy.

What a fantastic eve for the tunes. Started off with another spin of Flash Hawk Parlor Ensemble which reconfirmed my opinion of the sonic quality of this disc as well as the high degree of musicianship.
Demetrio's post had me searching the library and landing on Putamayo World Party which throws down with some great reggae and zydeco. If ya get the chance check out Sarazino from Algeria or Osibisa from Ghana.
Rumskib's self-titled album is an insight into the Scandinavian duo's ethereal influences. If you like pre-Las Vegas Cocteaus you may want to check out this new 2007 release. Very shimmery.
Winded it down now with big daddy Booker Ervin's The Freedom Book which while a bit raucous is a solid chunk of what was going on besides Coltrane.

Nice one, record of the year right now for me, continuing the dark, brooding depths of Alligator without feeling the need for occasional tempo change distractions. Great flow, and a real sense of accomplishment. Listening to that charming debut from Nina Nastasia, Dogs, a lot myself lately. "Judy's in the Sandbox" often winds up on repeat, but so does the whole thing ......

After not getting into their last release and hearing mixed opinions on this one, I wasn't expecting much. It's not dramatic, but it is just pleasant and can hit the spot when the mood for a laid back acoustic affair strikes. Mostly, this one will get played early in the morning when waking up or late at night coming down. Or, it can help the workday drift by like right now...
