I picked up my old tv and moved it about 30 feet this weekend.

I picked up some Pokemon cards for my kids.

I picked up 2 old Tull lp's, and the new The Cure album on lp.

The new Cure is weak weak weak weak. Robert Smith needs to call it a day.

    dos discs

Picked up Marillions 'Season End' used for $7. The first post-fish release and it just might be the best release I've heard from them. Berry Berry good, heavy on the Genesis influence, with emphasis on the guitar & vocals.
And the Cowboy Junkies 'Onesoulnow' Wow, suprised nobody's raved about this, it's edgier than usual for them, more distorted electric guitar. First listen knocked me out.

    Elf Pee:
Nope. It was a different Walsh disc. I believe the title is "Little Did I Know" or something like that. Covers most of his career, from James Gang thru "The Confessor" and "Life of Illusion". As to which hole it's filling, that's between me and my 12-step program sponsor.

I have "Look What I Did" by Mr. Joe, and it'spretty good. But, like almost every GH package I have, it only reminds me that I need to own the originals. A few months ago I got around to picking up "THe Smoker..." to go with the first two JG albums. I really am looking for "Barnstorm" though...

Haven't had a chance to spin them yet, but yesterday I got a used package from MOJO (all new to my collection, even vinyl):

Jon Spencer Blues Explosion: Xtra Acme USA
Zen Guerrilla: Shadows On The Sun *
The Rolling Stones: Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out (SACD Hybrid)
Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros: Streetcore
The Who: Live At Leeds (Remaster)

It appears that I'm entering a LOUD phase...

What do you think of these guys? Man, I haven't bought an album from them since POSITRONIC RAYGUN. I used to see them play all the time in Cleveland back in the mid-90's. Great, incredible live band. The kind of band you try to drag everyone you know to go see 'em, even those that don't normally like psycho-blues-core (what the hell else can you call it?) music.. everyone in the house has a great time when they play. Imagine Hawkwind with their space-rock effects and stoner rock riffs playing gospel, blues and Sam Cooke covers in a revival tent. (actually, ZG do a killer cover of Cooke's "Change Gonna Come").

I wish I hadn't lost touch with them, incredibly nice guys and they just put on one of the best shows you'll ever see. If you don't have their early stuff, I'd highly suggest it. I believe Alternative Tentacles has a cool reissue of their early ep's (GAP-TOOTH CLOWN/INVISIBLE LIFTEE PAD). Great stuff, pretty lo-fi, but the I'd rather listen to them than most blues I've heard. Though, I played them once for a dyed-in-the-wool blues fan and he looked at me like I was insane.

I've only heard a few of their cuts over some internet streams (Accuradio), and like 'em a lot. Every cut has been from "Shadows on the Sun", so that's where I'm starting. I'm looking forward to my first full listen, and not expecting virtuousity. Instead, I'm expecting a headache from playing it f**king loud!
