Where else does your money go?

I know everyone here spends money, some more than others, on audio equipment. But what other hobbies or interest do you guys "blow" money on? Beside the obvious things like family, food, shelter, etc.

What about travel, cars, hunting, fishing, woodworking, etc.

For me, Photography eats up a huge amount of money. I am always buying lenses or lighting or something. My monthly film tab is sometimes staggering. I shoot mainly B&W ( That's black and white for you audio guys, not Bowers and Wilkins) and do the developing myself as well as printing. Digital can't come close to a 11 x 14 B&W silver print yet.

At least I make money on my prints. Can't say that about Audio. Granted, I don't come close to breaking even but it helps some.

So, where else does the money go?

I'm not this uptite all the time. There is always another side!

For about the last 20yrs, I dabble a little in manufacturing automotive upgrades. They are considered to be long term, extreme, "in the works" personal vehicles. One '79 Ford Pinto with a 360 hp, 302 SB Ford, 5speed man/overdrive, extensive sheetmetal ground effects(custom) and 4 wheel disc conversion and 355 posi. Top speed 150mph and 1/4 mile 13.66sec. Time... 6yrs.

The current, A replica of a 1986 Lamborghini Countach. Purchased Body, doors, hood, trunk lids, and mtr/trans adapter. Building the rest myself. I purchased a 1/12 scale model, measured, and calculated for designing life size frame. Time so far...8yrs and about $12k Just about ready to drop in the motor and tranny this summer. I might post a pic or two after I clean up a bit.

Sadly, this hobby eats all of my free money.

I do things with the family, vacations, movies, sporting events, etc. I have no other hobby that draws my money though. Audio draws plenty though, possibly because I can't think of anything else to spend it on?

    Other hobbies? Hmmm...

Well, Even tho I don't go near as much as I used to...fishing.

Spending time with my family (including the lovely wife and beautiful daughter )

Listening to music. Yes, I consider this a hobby like audio or fishing...I also consider music as a separate hobby from audio...or fishin (even tho they sometimes get intertwined)

Cooking...I really like to cook...tho I've got a long long long ways to go...I am getting better

Eating...I like to taste what the food I'm trying to cook should really taste like Recently the wife took me to an extraordinarily nice restaurant, La Francias. Ugh, It showed me that I truly have a long long way to go>>>>>>Hey...maybe someday

there's some others...among the others would be doing nothing...yep, sometimes doing nothing is a boat load of fun!

    take care>>>>>>>>

You'll have to load them one by one until I figure a better way to do this! I would reccommend you do it in "seperate New Windows" so you can toggle around.

To the Democratic party in hopes of voting Bush's ass out of office!
Just kidding, I'm an independent. I do not financially support either party. However, Bush has made me think about it.

The only other hobbie I have is cooking. The problem is the more I cook the bigger my waist line gets.

    Books, books, books

And more books. I'm sure I have more than twice the monetary investment in books than my audio system, but then again, I've been buying books for far many more years than I've been into this audio thing of ours.

    cool thread

I'm into Photography too, I have been buying very little music the last year and a half. Cameras, lenses, and lighting takes most of my time and money.

Take a look here for some of my work:

Nice stuff. You seem to have a good grasp on lighting. Something not easily mastered. I really like your images.

I unfortunately, do not have anything on the web yet. I shoot do mainly landscape and macro work. Not nature oriented macro work, but kindof abstract. I like to make things that are ordinary look different. I do my own printing on fiber mainly and I have yet to master photoshop to a point that I would be happy putting my work on the web. The basic negative is rarely a finished product once I get in the darkroom. Hopefully soon I will be able to get my work on website.

I check Photosig out all the time and also Photo.net. My problem is my finished product is almost always very different than the original neg. My prints are usually 11 x 14 an up. I have yet to master Photoshop to the point I can immulate what I do in the darkroom. Oh well, practice practice. Hopefully soon I will be good enough at photoshop or find an exceptable way to get fiber prints on the web.

I'll PM you a website I think you will like. I met this guy in a printing class a couple of years ago and he is really good. He mainly shoots male and female porn stars so I don't want to put the link on here. It's funny, I always just happen to drop by his studio when he has a female porn star there. Hmmmmm. What are the odds?

Muncie/Getrag 5sp that I'm working on. Something like 300-350hp for a projected weight of 2300-2500lbs.
