    Here's a closer look

It's the same picture, but zoomed in on the equipment rack. If you look closely, you can see my hand on the camera in the reflection off the HD-200 front panel.

I was playing Finding Nemo when my sub made this horrendous popping sound (chapter 8, when the Bruce let go of the torpedo and detonated the mines, again when Marlin and Dory were in the abyss). Have any of you experienced this?

    My equipment

My setup is pretty simple but it sounds good...I acquired roughly half of it on eBay

    Marantz 2270 Receiver
Antique Sound Lab Wave Tube-amp x2
    Yamaha EQ-70 Equalizer
    Sony DVP-NS755V SACD Player
    Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer
    B&W DM602S2 Speakers
van den Hul D 102 MKIII Interconnects all-around

One day I'd like to replace the Marantz with something a little more 'updated', but I have yet to find something that sounds as good without spending more than I want to spend...But anyway, for a non-professional listener, it sounds really good!

    OK,
I have an old Sony reciever STS-DE305 (175w) It has 2 channels with 2 outputs per channel.

I recently bought 2 Klipsch Synergy 1 speakers- (300watt max) i was told my reciever had no chance of blowing them out.

I hooked them both up to the A channel and had the B channel off. Then I proceeded to pump them up very loud. They lasted about 5 hours before they almost completley died. I returned them at no cost to myself, thank you best buy, but I was wondering why that happened.

When I explained it to the guy at Best Buy, he was so perplexed, "that shouldn't have happened." I am aware that the employees there are not audiophiles, but I am simply trying to get some speakers that will be VERY loud (not nessesarily great quality)- without blowing out- and can be put facing out my window at parties with 200-300 college students getting rowdy and drunk.
