Which pair of Speakers made you stop looking?

I bought a pair of Mirage FRX5 floorstanding speakers for $300 a few years back and I think they're great! I'm sure if I listen to some of the HT systems of people here on this message board I will hear something better, but that's not the point. The point is being happy with what you decide. There's nothing worse than second guessing yourself or hindsight!!

Of course I still head to the store to listen to different equipment and I listen to stuff that blows my speakers out of the water. Remember, there will always be something newer and more expensive out there and sometimes they will be better.

Now, it's time to look for a HT for my family room- if it's not upgrading, it's buying something new for a different system, haha.

I've never stopped looking for good audio and speakers are my weakness. In the past I traveled frequently and half the fun was going to audio stores listening to speakers, most I'd read about in audio mags. Over the years I've had Advents, Polks, Boston Acoustics, Infinitys, several models of Klipsch', Genesis, Blue Room Minipods, Radio Shack (Lineaum models), Norh, PSB, Legacy, ACI and several custom-made speakers. I currently have 14 pairs of speakers at home, most in three HT systems. If I had to give up all but one pair I would keep my Legacy Focus'. They are a very refined, detailed speaker with incredibly smooth bass and liquid mid/highs. I currently have them in my living room HT with a Legacy Silver Screen center and T&A P-30 3-ways for surrounds. They're dynamic enough to satisfy the vidoephile, yet well-balanced and detailed enough for the audiophile. The full system is also very satisfying listening to SACD and DVD-Audio. They give me the best of both worlds.

Well, I guess I will never stop looking, per se... But I am extremely happy with the Tyler Accoustics Taylo Reference Monitors I bought used a few months ago for $1200 (including stands) from 45HZ on up. Below 45HZ, I love the ACI Titan II (called the Titan now, I believe) that I got for $1000 new a few years ago, and could not imagine needing anything more in a sub unless my room got a lot bigger... So the combo cost me $2200, and I would have to really spend a whole bunch more to better the sound, IMO. Maybe I will look at the Tyler Linbrooks or 7Us some day (or maybe the Legacy Whispers or Helixs' in my dreams), but I can easily stick with the Taylo Ref. Monitors permanently as far as I am concerned...

Found the Revel dealer and spent much time....Decided on the Revel F30s in Rosewood w/ option covers for $3800. A lot of cash, but i have not regretted it since. Actually, i'm so satisfied with them, i started working on the electronics (weak link). They sound great with a common receiver and mid-level gear. I feel spend the most on speakers and then upgrade around them.
