Default == no subscription?

That will do the trick, but that also prevents you from being able to be contacted by anyone in the forums. It also prevents you from being able to use the thread subscription feature at all. This doesn't solve the problem of having the default set to "no thread subscription" everytime you post, but it will work fine as long as you don't care about being contacted by other members.
