Next up: Roy Buchanan - Second Album

I love Bridge of Sighs. The sound quality isn't so good on that album though. I've got an early generation CD and once an LP and both were below average. I guess the great music engraved makes it worth it though. If the master was any good this would be an album that really needs remastered. If there's maybe over a half dozen remasters of Court Of The Crimson King then give us one Bridge of Sighs.

Perhaps my favorite singer of all.

Parasites: Solitary

Catchy, sharp yet ragged power pop/punk record from a band that's been around for quite a long time but hasn't put a full length out for like a decade. Typical pop punk influences like the Descendants, Buzzcocks, the Ramones. Nothing deep, mostly songs about girls. More than solid effort if this kinda thing is up your alley.

...strangely, it's hurts in good ways.

I can't compare this album to a CD or LP copy, but this so certain. It was a great purchase.
I've never been a huge MD fan, since he had never wowed me out of nowhere. He's just constantly great. This album reveals his greatness all round.

I'm checking this out now, really good, might be something you'd like Nobody. I don't know how to describe them, something like punked out B52's without the keys meets psycodelic 60's.

Melodium: Lullabies for Adults

Folktronica, IDM, whatever you wanna call it. Blend of acoustic and electronic sounds, ultra laid back, sparse. Reminds me of the first Mum album but even more mellow. Really good if you're into this kinda ****.

I'm just starting to dip my toe into that area as I'm really liking BT. I'm listening to Binary Universe now, the DVD that comes with that seems to raise the bar as far as combining an audio and visual experience together.

I am busy trying to X-fer alot of the vinyl I have been picking up to CD.

Tom Waits: Swordfishtrombones

This one is like an old friend I can in no way be objective about. For me, the best thing a great musician ever did. I've got sentimental attachments to this thing as well as an admiration for it musically. For those who like his earlier stuff best, this one may be trouble as it really did signal the start of his getting weird. For someone like me who enjoys a wide range of his stuff, this one hits the sweet spot right down the middle.

Not sure how true it is but, apparently RB was asked to join the Stones way back when, but turned it down. I always wonder what influence he would have had on the "Greatest R&R Band In The World"

Grace Jones: Hurricane

I just came across this album, her first in 19 years. It came out toward the end of last year. If you like Grace Jones, don't hesitate. She's not lost a step. Her voice still sounds great and she can still mix light reggae rhythms with ominous bass and menace to match her often cold, calculated vocals. Lots of collaborators, like usual suspects Sly & Robbie to new to the Grace Jones camp people like Brian Eno and Tricky. A bit of variety on this one with a couple laid back Caribbean tunes which almost come across as sentimental, but plenty of steel and thunder as well.
