I don't have much knowledge on the band. I was shocked when I found out he was in Hawkwind. That's a pretty good stretch from them to Motorhead. I'm sure a Google would find you some into. I'll check around for that disc. Thanks

I am amazed that this old thread is still going. I just started it with a mundane question to hear what people are listening to, and it seems to have taken on a life all of it's own.

Hi Bernd, Good to see another 'Go Find' fan I'm liking this album too but not quite as much as the last one. But that Jesse Sykes is a definite winner, saw her in York about 2 months ago and she was brilliant.

My recent listens are that remastered Prefab Sprout - Steve Mcqueen, which came the other day (it's just as good as I hoped it would be) and the Spoon latest.

Thanks for the heads up on the earlier "Go Find". Just ordered it.
The postman just delivered the remastered Prefab Sprout. It sounds fantastic.
Still waiting for Spoons latest on Vinyl. Bloody postal strike.

Glenn Gould--The Goldberg Variations-1955 performance

This is the newly released zenph re-performance edition.They use sophisticated software to analyze a performance and the computer plays it back on an acoustic piano which is then recorded direct to DSD for the SACD.I must say the sound is incredible.

Beastie Boys - The mix up (which was suprisingly even better than I first imagined)

Now that I've played this album about 8 times, the sound of this album has finally opened up. I dont think this is due to my newishly acquired setup cuz this is the 3rd time I've played this wax in the past 2 weeks. I stil dont understand this phenomenon, but it's what I've always discovered. Analog audio is a strange thing...

At last the "GoFind - Miami" disc arrived yesterday. Thanks Mike for the recomendation.

"Ian Parker - Where I Belong" Blues guitarist of some quality. More melodic then Lister.

"Jerry Garcia and David Grisman - Been all around this World" Real nice acoustic sounds.

"Gustavo Santaolalla - RonRoco" One of my all time favourite discs. Just beautiful.

Patti Smith Horses up first. I'm pretty sure that what makes a good band is synergy, of course it helps if they can make music, and in this case there is a good producer on board, John Cale. At least I like his mix. You can detect the guitar overdubs but they sound like they're occupying a position in the stage of another musician. A whole hellava lot, I like his mix.

Next was Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers at Keystone Korner 3 with the Marsalis Bros. Clean cookin with gas!

Having listened to that I just had to put on Free For All and listened to the title track for the 400th time. Blakey is all up Wayne Shorter's backside and Shorter just smokes, cooks, burns for chorus after chorus. This is pure heat!

Next up in the stack was the Janet Jackson's remix LP of Rhythm Nation. Jump street!. You gotta respect that Jimmy Jam groove. After that I retired to watch the rest of the ladies tennis in Toronto where I couldn't take my eyes off of Tatiana Golovin.

Ozark Henry - The sailor not the sea

I've been listening to Iron Maiden, Fear of the Dark. It took a couple of spins but I like several songs on the album quite a bit. I accidently ended up with a copy of HIM, the one with Wings of a Butterfly. I wasn't overly thrilled with it but it's starting to grow on me when I'm in the mood. I also listened to a Virgin Black album I have, can't remember the name.

I certainly needed this rest today..

I enjoyed quite a bit of music today. Even went to a Home depot to look for some 2" nuts to be used as base for isolation tweak I had in mind.
The biggest one could find was 7/8" and didnt wanna go with some boucy ball, instead of racketballs. Oh well.

I couldnt've picked a better album to finish off a day.

Haven't hear that for a long time...You just sent me on a trek.

I just finished spinning Triumvirat - Old Loves Die Hard. This was (is?) a German band from the 70's that can do the ELP sound better than ELP on some tracks but with a more classical influence.

I've never even heard of them. I'll try my best to remember that name, the next time I go digging. Any particular album you suggest by them? It doesnt look like they have a huge catalogue so I guess I'll try to pick one in mid 70's.

This is the only one I have and had another album back then but don't remember the title. I'm going to rip it from vinyl as soon as I get rid of a nasty ground hum when I hook up my sound card with a grounded cable. I can send you a shiny disk if you listen to such thing?

Jeff Beck - Blow By Blow

This album make an appearance at just about every sit down session for the last couple of months. IMO Jeff Beck is one of the most technically competent guitarist there is.

My favorite Jeff Beck album is Wired. I've become a big Jan Hammer fan. He plays with Beck on Wired, with Al Dimeola on Elegant Gypsy and a Billy Cobham album that also feature the late great Tommy Bolin.

I've taken a tangent since my last spinning post. I just got in The Wreckers, Taylor Swift and an old Charlie Daniels album called Million Mile Reflections that is darn good. I've only listen to The Wreckers once, there are some good songs but after awhile the negativity ways on you. It could have just been the mood I was in. Taylor Swift I know is young but the entire album is in the same vein of boy/girl, this or that.


I also picked up a Casting Crowns album called Lifesongs. It is a dual disc with CD on one side and a DVD with hi rez audio on the other. I like this band, the style is kind of Power Pop and they have Christian lyrics but the songs for the most part are very well crafted and the vocalist has a powerful delivery, the whole package works.

What is the name of that Billy Cobham record,that sounds good.

Billy Cobham, Spectrum, I know it was on CD but I'm not sure if it's still in print. Mine is on vinyl. Al Dimeola's, Elegant Gypsy is a must as well if you like Fusion style Jazz. It has great guitar, percussion and whatever that thing is Hammer plays. There is one track with Dimeola and a Flamingo guitarist that is just those two on acoustic guitar, one in each speaker, it is incredible.

Another rec sort of in the same area, Abraxas Pool. This is a Greg Rollie and Neal Schon project that came a few years back. A Latin flavored Rock album some where between Journey, before Steve Perry, and Santana.

Thanks i think i will look for that.I have not heard Elegant Gypsy but i just got Friday Night in San Fransico and it is very good.
