According to this link he is very much alive. The article explains how the hoax was started.

Thanks John. He called in to another local radio station to report that he is indeed alive and well.

    Thank goodness!!!

the root word of 'twitter' is 'twit' - very appropriate

I guess its good that stupid people have a place of their own to congregate when they might otherwise be out chasing parked cars.

Can he PROVE that he's alive?

Ya we caught that here in London. They were interviewing poor Ronnie Hawkins, who was really bummed out.

The original report that I heard said that the news came from Ronnie Hawkins!

Apparently, Lightfoot was at the dentist in downtown Toronto when this rumour started, so he was able to walk over to the CP24 (24 hr news TV station) offices and get on TV to prove it's not true.

Can you imagine lying in the dentist chair and finding out that the news is reporting your death? LOL.

Circumstantial at best. That only shows that he came in 4th. It doesn't specifically say that he was alive at the time. For all I know this is cousin Bernie all over again.

Most important to know: not my fault...

...seesh, what a trainwreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald...
So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner
She said : "Eh, I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

So does this mean I have to take down my 10-11 Gordon Lightfoot LP's that I posted on E-Bay starting at $100 a piece.......

Glad to hear he is still with us.
Went and saw him in concert a few years back and he was great.
