Your Metallica and Mars Volta picks aren't so bad either. Metallica was on my original list, but I had to narrow it down and drop a few off. It didn't survive the cut.

Yes, I am a HUGE Crowded House fan. Infact, I also love Split Enz and own all of their albums on original vinyl.

I take it you don't enjoy hip hop. That top 100 list included Paid in Full, I would agree with that for sure. It's tough to pick on a list like this. I tried to include all factors such as the bands discography, popular relevance and of course, personal relevance.

FA I suspect you aren't a funk/soul/ RB fan either. P-Funk was VERY experimental and progressive back in the day.

The Mars Volta's debut really impacted me as a being a great album and renewed my faith in rock. I also believe it to be their best. They shed Rubin and the result was less than pleasing IMO.

    Anyhow, great topic.

You're right, hip hop/funk/soul/R&B just aren't my cuppa tea for the most part.

I agree with your assessment of Mars Volta. I really liked that first disk, but nothing that I've heard since has been all that enjoyable to me. I have their second, and possibly third, disk at home. I should probably sell them. I'll never listen to them again. I still pull the debut out on occasion however.

Have you heard the new Crowded House disk, Intriguer? I've been hearing mixed reviews. I'm also a huge fan, but their last one was a big disappointment for me...especially since it took them so long to release it. I'm not jumping to buy the new one yet.

But we've gone off-topic...So what? This is the most active thread here in ages. Great topic...great discussion!
