    Two by David Gilmour spring instantly to mind; "Time" and "Comfortably Numb".

    There's several layers of bittersweet built into the solo that ends Dire Straits' "Tunnel of Love".

    J. Macis's solo on Dino Jr.'s "Get Me" cuts to the bone, also.

    I'm going to leave this post as-is. But for the record, I originally read "prog / rock" to mean "prog OR rock". Hence the presence of J. Macis in my post. And, arguably, Mark Knopfler as well.
