Oh, well, here's mine, a day late, and lonely:

Two Lone Swordsmen, From the Double Gone Chapel -- really good dark moody electro -- appeals to me more than that Interpol stuff

Einsturzende (sic) Neubauten, Perpetuum Mobile -- surprisingly understated masterpiece, sublimely melancholy at points, ghostly in others, powerful in yet others.

Flesh Field, Strain -- perhaps a little too "single-y" for most, but appeals to the inner extrovert in me -- it seems like every track on here could be the opener to a really great live set.

The Real Tuesday Weld, I, Lucifer -- bizarre little cut-n-paste voyage into croonersville.

Scissor Sisters -- alright, it's not that bad, but it still won't make my year-end list. A little too much disco for my tastes.

Ascii.Disko -- great dancey EBM affair

Diary of Dreams, Nigredo -- need more listens, but initial impressions remain at "could be their best ever". A little more diverse than most of their previous outings.

Frameshift, Unweaving the Rainbow -- this one is sinking in as well. I really like the fusiony jammy parts.

Justin Sullivan, Navigating by the Stars -- great voice, great songwriter, what more d'ya need?

Therion, Lemuria/Sirius B -- actually, in hindsight, I don't think this is as good as some of their more recent previous outings. Will need to relisten. But it's still pretty rockin'.

Fates Warning, FWX -- very rockin'!

Electrelane, The Power Out -- I dig this more and more with each listen. If I were surrounded by a group of wild, ravenous IHSE's, I'd push this one out there, and then run like the dickens while they were all distracted. It really shoulda ranked much more highly over on Obner.

It's too late for Tunesday. It's almost Thursday already! All I remember is Joseph Arthur Our Shadows Will Remain and Mark Lanegan Band Bubblegum. Played em both a bunch of times. Both great to excellent...although Bubblegum is close to 100% excellent. The Joseph Arthur has really grown on me lately. Still a few moments when I feel a little uneasy with his production choices, but pretty easy to forget about that part too. Nice album. If I had a real copy it probably woulda been pretty well up there on my yearender. That one didn't fare so well over at obner either, but at #72 it came out quite a bit better than Steve Albini's Electrelane chicks.

BTW, not that it matters a hoot, but guess I should probably mention in passing that the girls from Brighton came in at #12 on my big shmoo poll list....

A few listens for me

Pinback - Summer In Abaddon, just recently this has really got under my skin, each listen I like it more and more

Opeth - Damnation, a few years old now but I've only recently picked it up and glad I did

Dzihan and Kamien - Gran Riserva, a couple of mix meisters in the style of Kruder and Dorfmeister but with more of an upbeat jazz feel to them in that they use 'proper' instruments. Great sounds in the car with a bass that hits you in the pit of the stomach

American Analog Set - Know By Heart, supposed to be released in the UK for the last 6 months but it's never surfaced so I plumped for the US version a while ago. Death Cabs Ben Gibbard pops up for vocals so it's a smooth laid back kind of sound

Plus recent talk of RR comps made me dig out my folder and spun a few discs by Davey, ChrisNZ, Mason and Jim

Also got to see Jesse Malin live on Sunday night who put on a solid acoustic gig with some girl on keyboards, great sound and show. His studio albums are pretty good but not a patch on him live

Hi Tony here's a few comments for you,

Graham Coxon - Happiness in Magazines, is a great album that hasn't seen much talk round here. The Blur influence is obvious but early Blur with more guitar, vocally he's not brilliant but the songs make up for it. Audiobill has it maybe he could chip in too.

Mylo - Destroy Rock and Roll, basically you will either like it for it's upbeat playful sound or loathe it as cheesy club fodder, I don't think there's a middle ground. Think Royksopp for a similar sound.

Jamelia - Can't remember the album title but I've borrowed it from a friend and apart from the singles it didn't do anything for me.

Goldie Lookin Chain - I've not heard the album and it's not my sort of stuff anyway but I did see them live in the Summer last year. They are a fun band who are having a laugh at raps expense IMO producing novelty crap rap. I'm not knocking rap but to me they show it up for what it's worth.

Kaki King... Vibrant, percussive accoustic guitar player. Check out her website, Kakiking.com. You'll be amazed, I think.

...and you will know us by the trail of dead... Picked up a 3-song advance copy of this at Best Bi. One song sounds like they're trying to be the new Genesis!?!? Haven't listened more than once, yet- you probably know what they sound like more than I.

Ray LaMontagne- Trouble ...reminds some of early Van Morrison mixed w/ Nora Jones.

American Analog Set. From a 6-song Tylenol (!?) sampler I picked up that also has a band called White Magic on it. I don't know what to think of AAS, yet. Couldn't tell you what they sound like.

Simple Kid. I don't know about this dude, either (that's why I make these comps- so I can listen to the artists over & over). I picked this up because I had heard Staring At The Sun and liked it. He's a one man band, creating songs in the vein of Beck, Blur and the "hippie electronica of Super Furry Animals."

Maroon 5. Are these guys g@y? Some schlocky tunes (altho She Will Be Loved comes close to giving me chills), some songs sound like Red Hot Chili Peppers music w/ a boy band singing over the top w/ some Simply Red thrown in.

Also have the 'new' Living Colour live from CBGBs 1989 and the new Diecast, but they're too raccous for this comp.

I'm out in the cold on this one, but I still think that is one of his problems right now, the fact that almost everybody says they like it because it reminds them of someone else, and I have exactly the same feeling although it's not VM for me either. I really don't want that feeling in the back of my head when I listen to new music. Nice album, though

I know what you mean but it's hard when we listen to as much music as we obviously all do not hearing influences/sounds to other artists. I could play that album to a bunch of friends and some would say oh yeah Otis Redding others might say Otis who? Ok maybe not Otis who? but you know what I mean.

Take for example Pinback and The American Analog Set I mentioned earlier, their albums are very similar with that downbeat but intricately layered sound they even sound a bit like the Electrelane from what I've heard, or what about the Futureheads I just hear The Jam straight off no question. I guess sometimes it's just handy having a reference point for music to describe the sound.

Been listening to pretty mainstream stuff lately,however ITunes has some great electronica.Most of the stuff in the last couple of years has been pretty monotonous.
Fractal Glider,Rastaliens,Twisted Hobo are some of the most innovative stuff Ive heard in the electronic scene.
To the mainstream,I cannot get enough of the Killers Hotfuss album.The mix of 80s new wave with todays "punk" is really catchy,addicting.
Saw an earlier post with Mussorgsky,wondered if they had heard the MoFi SACD with St Louis Symphony,guaranteed to dust off the drivers in your stereo.
This weekend goin to be hairband weekend,I am sure the neighbors downstairs will be thrilled.
