    Elton John top 3 songs

Not a big fan of EJ, but he did manage put out some pretty good songs here and there. Some of his older material is decent but FM radio made them stale due to being over played. So it is touch and go.

    1. "Island Girl"
    2. "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" with Kiki Dee.
    3. "I'm Still Standing"
    4. "I Want to Kiss the Bride"
And may be "Nikita" on a good day

OMG. So many great songs to choose from. Okay, off the top of my head without giving this too much thought...

    1. Skyline Pigeon
    2. Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me.
    3. Levon

Hard to beat the entirety of Tumbleweed Connection - one of the best albums ever IMO...for three songs, I'd vote:

I have to break the rules because I can't make up my mind on just 3.
    Madman Across The Water
    Rocket Man
    Tiny Dancer
    Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
    Levon

I used to love Candle In The Wind but I think I heard it one too many times. The song he did for John Lennon is good as well, is that Garden? Yeah, he has a few good songs.

I found a nicely preserved LP of this down in Austin last year. I won' say it's one of the best ever, but very good and Elton's best. I don't have much use for EJ after Madman.
I call my bathroom Jim instead of John so I can tell people that I go to the Jim first thing every morning.

Empty Garden. I was going to give that one honourable mention. It's a beautiful song.

I'm a little surprised to see so many of you list Your Song. I've always thought that song was a little cheesy. You guys are just big ol' softies at heart.

    Thanks everybody

From everybody list it seem his older songs are more populer than his later material. Which goes along with the census that he only had one good album in 80's worth listening, and that was probably Too Low For Zero.

Agree with Jonny here.............TC is the best of EJ.

    1."Ballad of a Well-Known Gun" – 4:59
    2."Come Down in Time" – 3:25
    3."Country Comfort" – 5:06
    4."Son of Your Father" – 3:48
    5."My Father's Gun" – 6:20
[edit] Side two1."Where to Now St. Peter?" – 4:11
    2."Love Song" (Lesley Duncan) – 3:41
    3."Amoreena" – 5:00
    4."Talking Old Soldiers" – 4:06
    5."Burn Down the Mission" – 6:22

Come Down In Time is excellent as well..........and Love Song.

I love "Funeral"...........EJ might have written the primary theme but.......
"The grandiose introduction to "Funeral For A Friend" was performed on A.R.P. synthesizer by the album's engineer, David Hentschel, who Elton recalled overdubbed track after track of music and synthetic atmospheric effects until the mini-opus was complete."

Really difficult to pick only 3 songs, as he has so many great hits.

    If I had to pick:

    Levon
    Rocketman
and either Candle in the Wind or Tiny Dancer.
