I'm going back to Maredsous this weekend. I sent an e-mail to their website asking where I might find a set of their glasses here in the US.

    There is good news...
I talked to the in-store importer guy ( :confused5: )... are ya with me? ....... He's going to order Sleeman Honey Brown for me (because I'm a dedicated Gold Club member of his liquor store) and he's also going to look into a set of the Maredsous stemmed glasses, as shown on their USA homepage:

    www.maredsous-usa.com

    "YES! That's what I want!"

The #10 is a much better experience than #8, which was happily verified by my expectations for this Belgin... Benedictine Monk produced ale. My tastebuds were well prepped for some inhalation of this fine receipe (whoops! ) and I certainly wasn't dissappointed..., except for... just one... eerrrrr... one slight problem...

( :skep: ) A tinge of aluminium at the tail end of the chase down to my belly and up to my brain. Gets a C+.

ACK - that is purely in the domain of malt liquors in tin cans. I know times are hard, and spreading a wider net to capture more capital is needed, but Belgium ales shouldn't be encroaching on the one trust things a malt liquor can do right.

It sucks, no doubt about it, but I try to make the best of a bad situation ya know what I mean?

This beer costs $11.00 for a 4-pack of 11.2 oz's of 10% malt ale... it kicks azz! :yikes:

Rich, Buddy.....Pal........................ I know you told him to order a little extra for ol' Cartman, right? :ihih: BTW, where did you order it from? Wonder if they would ship me some if they can get it. I wonder if Rich is now regretting posting this? :p Cartman smells Sleeman, Cartman is on the trail!

Oh geez! You're right, I am regretting it. :mad2:

The name of the liquor store is Siegel's. I found out from the guy that Sleeman's just recently got licensed in Texas (something like that) so who knows, maybe it'll start showing up on shelves here.

I gave my remaining stock of Leffe another chance last night but this time it went down without such a heavy taste. Very smooth and finished well. Maybe not so bad afterall.

I think you've already posted these haven't you? (The missing headlight assy sticks out in my brain). I forget easy these days. :mad2:

There's probably still some Friday Night Street racing to be had down at the Texas Motorplex, but my car hasn't seen a dragstrip in many moons.

I'm sad to report that it looks like this old boozer will not be partaking in a Sleeman's Honey Brown taste test any time soon. My contact at the liquor store said no dice. That's okay, I'll stick with my current selection, Maredsous #10. I also have a phone number now to call so I can order a set of glasses. I just hope the price is reasonable and shipping costs aren't rediculous, and maybe that ever-so-slight metallic tinge won't be noticeable when I pour it into a fancy glass.

    Anyway, Happy Friday!

I found a place in Seattle online that had 5 (yes 5!) bottles? I asked how he had just 5 and he told me they were singles. I sweet talked him for a while (on company phone) and almost had him special ordering me a couple cases to ship. He got cold feet and said he did not really special orders. G*# Fu@#*^$! Dam$&*! I was that freaking close to some Sleeman! I'm still on thr trail though.

Anyway, there is an 50/50 chance I might be moving to the Seattle area in the next year or so.............so who knows, I might be swimming it the stuff soon.

There's a couple of places in town that stock the stuff on the shelves. I would tend to suggest a locale prone toward carrying obscure micros. Worst case scenario:

What part of Richie Rich's Longhorn state are you in?
