What does Miles Davis have to do with any audio equipment? Nothing. This is all I am really trying to say. Bottom line, they are using his name and image to help sell a product.

    Peace and love, Chubbs

We certainly aren't going to change anything by our arguing about the "morality" of branding these buds with Miles' name. They are out there for sale and that's not going to change.

However, I want you to consider, even if you hate the idea of "selling his name" that Miles' name is now going to be seen/read/talked about by a lot more people than before. Even if only one of them gets newly exposed to his music isn't that a GOOD thing?

Take the blathering you and I are doing right now. Do you suppose even you or I are going to dust off some vinyl, feeling inspired? I don't.

I also don't think that this will lead to alot of people discovering his music. However, of course it's a good thing!! Should someone find his music through this product, it would probably be of more importance than the product itself.

I will give you this, if his name and likeness appeared on the brand of trumpet he used, I could maybe dig it. I just think that the buds are no different than a box of cereal, pair of jeans, etc.

I think the thing that bothers me the most, is that he's dead Geoff. It wasn't his decision, so to me it feels exploitative, regardless of the decisions of his estate trustees.

We will agree to disagree my good man, although I do feel your points fully.

Some things are sacred, whether it's music, art or just an inspiring person. It should all be left to be just that, not satirized for commercial gain. \

I'm sure Mr. Davis' estate is fine and healthy without tarnishing his reputation for a quick buck. He would NEVER have agreed to something like this. I have read several books on him, have you?

    The late great Mile Davis, May 26th 1926 - September 28th 1991

Yeah, some things are sacred, and Miles Davis aint it, no matter if "kinda blue"is
one of, if not the best Jazz album ever(the SACD is my reference).
After the third time I heard one of my favorite songs on a car commercial I got over it.
As for the ten dead girls, which were found recently in some sickos apartment, just
making a reference as what should really make you sick, just saying, keep things in perspective.
AND yeah, these things are a rip-off, so is a lot of stuff we buy.
But if MR Hancock and the DAVIS estate can make a few bucks, well considering
the joy I have gotten from both I won't brgrudge them their pieces of silver.
Could'da come up with something better, I guess in the age of portable devices
    in-ears tested better.
