    Cool

    JVC made good VCRS.
    THATS IT.
Kenwood used to be a bargain choice for peeps who wanted serious sound but couldn't pony up the big bucks.
But that was then, they are pretty much a joke now.
Crap squared, that pretty much sums it up.
On the bright think of all of those great KENWOOD D-ILA sets
    that will be coming out!!

JVC actually makes pretty decent earphones. Some of the best sounding and lowest cost and very popular canalphones come from JVC like the HA-FX33/66 and their wooden set the HA-FX500.

I don't know about Kenwood's earphones. they have some but they are limited to Japan.

yeah this is old news dude, get with the times...haha.
but the news i got from people i know in the company at australia is that it isnt merger in the usual sense. apparently kenwood were leaking money like a leaky bucket (suprise surprise), ut they hired some really good accountants that fixed their problem good. JVC having left their parent company of matshu****a (panasonic) were also losing alot of money, they asked kenwood to borrow their accountants and a deal was done which saw kenwood take a share of JVC.

it might be all bollocks but this was the explanation he gave.

    cheers

Some of you guys have short memories. JVC used to make great CRT's, close or equal to the Sony's in the 90's. They still make some decent HDTV's and I also have an excellent JVC plasma and a nice set of JVC noise cancelling headphones. They also made excellent S-VHS VCR's, I still own one of them and a Sony S-VHS VCR also.

In the 90's when I bought my first DD receiver it ended up being a very good Kenwood AVR receiver. (Years ago they made many fine electronics under the Trio name in Asia). I can't remember the model number (something like a 9090 or 9900) but it listed for $900. It had an excellent tuner and one of the first receivers with equal power to all channels. I looked at many different brands and models including Denon, Sony ES and an Onkyo that was DOA, before I found the Kenwood.

    Good stuff in earlier days.

I had one of their standard (but higher end) vcrs to go with my SVHS,
it was one of the best and I was upset when it got stolen.
SVHS and VHS was somethingthey invented, they should have been good at it.
AS for Kenwood, they used to make great inexpensive gear of true audio quality, but started with the cheap mass market crap and that was allshewrote.
A failed attempt at a comeback was more sad than anything else,
weird looking receivers with strange ergonomics.
TRUTH is we have too many companies out there now, and with the current unpleasantness some are going to die, that is just a reality.
Better it be bottom feeders like JVC and KENWOOD.
When I look at their current stuff and remember their older days
    its just too sad.
