Speaker volume setting vs. master volume

I have been wanting to ask this question, possibly a stupid one. My Onkyo receiver comes with the menu to setup the speaker volume for each speakers ie. front, center, surround, and subwoofer. The setting is in the dB level. I understand that this is used to have a balance sound output from the point where I sit, so each speaker volume can be adjusted individually.

Would there be any difference in me raising all speakers volume, let's say by 2dB each, in the menu as compared to me just crancking up the volume knob.

yeh you could do that, just won't have to turn the control as much for a given volume.
