fixing magnetic damage to tv

without thinking i got an old speaker too close to my bedroom tv and it has discolored the top right corner (DOH!). the tv is a panasonic tau and its like 3 years old, from what i can hear the degaussing is working when i turn it on but its not really doing anything...

i'm at a bit of a loss as i dont want to buy a new tv but i dont know if i can live with the discoloring

any ideas on what i could do that would be cheaper than buying a new tv and easy?

I doubt that you did any permanent damage to your tv. More than likely it will be just fine after a few days. You can have the set professionally degaussed but I doubt that this will be necessary. You could try unplugging the set for an hour or so and moving it to another location and then turn it on. The set will most likely demagnetize itself.

ok cool thanks i'll try that and if worse comes to worse there are degaussers on ebay for only $27 which aint too bad
