I would go for used electra be speakers for a 5.1 system... (2 towers, 2 bookshelves, 1 center)

if everything used is about half price new, then there will be some money for room treatment

Being an HT guy, I would go this route. Didn't add them up so I may be slightly over. Throw the balance into the "are you in dept over this hobby" thread.
