Top Ten Fave Scenes from your fave movies.

Ahem... wake up everybody. Time to talk movies again. What's yer top ten scene's of your top ten films. Mine in no particualr order:

1. GodFather 1 - When Michael confronts his brother in-law with his transgressions. "Come on, you think that little farce you put on with my sister would fool a Corleone?"

2. Red River - Mongomery Clift gives John Wayne one first class ass whuppin while Walter Brennan chuckles on. That's right skinny assed Montgomery Clift.

3. King Kong - Kong comes to the native village to "get his squeeze back" and all hell litterally breaks loose.

4. The Exorcist - "The Power of Christ compels you!!!"

5. Casablanca - Bogart "Mr. Toughguy" personified, sitting drinkin and crying for his lost love who just walked back into his life. There's one point when she walks in where he utter's an inaudible sob. It's at that point, as Bart Simpson once said "you can litterally see his heart breaking".

6. Aliens - Vasquez' rear guard action. Perhaps the greatest one woman fight ever filmed.

7. Glory - The camp meeting, before the doomed frontal assault. What power.

8. Seven Samurai - The climatic battle in the rain.

9. Donnie Darko - When Donnie leaves the movies to pay Patick Swayse a little visit.

10. They Were Expendable - When the last plane out of the Phillipines flies over the heads of men facing certain death.

1) Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom - When Mola Ram takes Indy's heart out of his chest while the locals are chanting his name....

2) The Empire Strikes Back -"...Luke, I am your fathe!"

3) Pulp Fiction - "Oh man, I accidentally shot Marvin in the face..." the whole scene with Samuel L. and Travolta delivering the body, etc is priceless

4) Momento - The scene where he drinks the beer...yuck

5) The Godfather - "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse"

6) Independance Day - The White House gets laser-fied

7) The Godfather II - "It was you Fredo. I know it was you. You broke my heart. You broke my heart."

8) Rocky III - "My Prediction? Pain!" - Clubber Lang...the coolest character ever.

9) Scarface - "In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women."

10) Basic Instinct - You know which one I'm talking about...

Indiana Jone and the Pimple of Puke was absolutely some of the worst drivel I've ever seen. I tried to blot that thing out of my mind. It reigned as worst sequel for a long time until Star Wars Episode I came along, that chite makes IJ&TTOD look like Citizen By-God Kane. Good pick with the Rocky III Quote. I feel that Clubber Lang is one of the best villains in the history of cinema. So bad even us Black folks hated him. What a hoot.

Easy Worfster...you have any idea how scary it was at the age of 4 to see a big bad skull tottin' mofo tear a heart out of Han Solo's chest before getting dumped into Lava...how bad ass is that.

And as far as Star Wars Ep. I goes...well, it wasn't great, but it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It woulda been tons better if they cut out the first hour and a half and just started after the stupid race. Darth Maul's bad ass saved that movie.

Blue Velvet - several great scenes, but the one that sticks out in my mind is Ben (Dean Stockwell) performing In Dreams by Roy Orbison. So f***in suave!

Once Upon a Time in the West - The opening scene where the 3 bad guys including Jack Elam are waitng for the train carrying Charles Bronson.

True Romance - the showdown between Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken.

This Is Spinal Tap - the "little people" dancing around the miniature Stone Henge!

Joe Dirt - alright, call me stupid, but the scene where Joe Dirt is posing shirtless at the tilt-a-whirl for the blonde had me rollin'.

Touch of Evil - opening scene with explosion, I guess it's the camera angles and Mancini music, but it draws me in everytime.

Jason and the Argonauts - toss-up between the fight with the huge bronze Talos and skeletons.

Trainspotting - Ewan McGregor's character goes into toilet after drugs - wanted to turn away but couldn't. Probably a good summation of the whole addiction thing.

Attack of the Giant Leeches - OK, this is a stretch but the scene where Yvette Vickers (classic bombshell type) taunts her pathetic husband by applying lotion to herself is timeless.

My last one is categorical - scenes depicting the vastness of space and huge spaceships really get to me, e.g., Star Wars and the Deathstar, the space scenes in 2001, 2010 and Alien (just saw this again recently - man the ship was huge)

I should explain this last one -- the first time I saw it, my gf at the time came in right at that scene. We were all laughing our asses off, but because they were portraying it so well as a documentary, she thought it was real. She chided us for enjoying other peoples' misery, and reminded me that since I wanted to become a rock star, I should be particularly sympathetic, since this could happen to me.

Spinal Tap -- I've always wanted to do a collection of my acoustic numbers with, the London Philharmonic as you know.

...and of course, the infamous "eleven" moment. Specifically, the pause before the punchline.

I could probably come up with 10 favourite scenes from From Dusk Til Dawn.
I could also probably come up with 10 favourite dirty scenes (Phoebe Cates from Fast Times at Ridgmont High comes to mind, as does Jamie Lee Curtis from Love Letters)

Since most of my top ten are mentioned, here are my fav scenes in these (diff from the above) and a few not mentioned:

godfather2: toss up here: the scene with senator geary, and the line that i think captures the two movies: "we're both part of the same hypocrisy senator, but never think it applies to my family." And the final flashback scene, before pop comes home and sonny introduces carlos to connie at the dinner table, sonny and tom talk to mike about his future... perfection.

platoon: barnes coming in to their hole after elias was killed. chilling.

full metal jacket: the scene may be cliche now but it's cliche for a reason: the bathroom scene... "I AM in a world of ****"

gladiator: commodus killing pop, he shoulda won the oscar for this scene alone, that, "one full hug would be like the light of a thousand suns" lines... oh classic!

the usual suspects - 'oswald was a pussy' the whole attack on the ship was great.

glory - right on with this one worfster.. powerful scene.

Ran - the parade of colors in the first battle, the runners with the flags... wow.

Aliens - the intro to the marines scene, amazing how in about 3 mins, you know each of those characters inside and out. great filmmaking. ("have you ever been mistaken for a man vasquez. No, have you.")

Bridge on the river Kwai - saito breaking down and striking Col. Nicholson... awwwwwwww yeah.

Sixth Sense - at the end when willis realizes he's dead. Can't believe I didn't see that one coming

Matrix (first one) - at the end when Neo kicks some Agent Smith butt

Return of the King - battle at the Pelennor Fields. Pure classic. nough said

Lost in Translation - about an hour after the movie when I started to think about it and really felt how the two main characters felt at that instant in their lives.

Saving Private Ryan - The very beginning

Transformers The Movie - When Optimus Prime dies, I was crushed as a 7 year old

The Usual Suspect - The end

Final Fantasy The Spirit Within - The whole movie, what a beautiful looking movie

Shawshank Redemption - When Robbins double crosses the warden at the end

Tommy Boy - The spanky incident

Cliffhanger: The first scene where girl fall off to here death, while Hal (Michael Rooker) keep shouting not to let her fall.


Die Hard 2: Scene where Bruce open fire at airport security chief Lorenzo with blank bullets, and Lorenzo saying at the end of scene.."Lets kick some ass!"


Gunfight at the O.K. Corral: Burt Lancaster trying to arrest bunch of [armed] drunk rowdy cowboys at the saloon without any guns....."your talking too big for a man without gun", one of cowboys said.


Silver Streak: The scene where Richard Pryer try to teach Gene Wilder to act like a brother...."Lets hope a Muslim brother don't see you", Pryer told Gene.


Driving Miss Daisy: The cemetery scene where Jessica Tandy tell Freeman to find a name on a grave, not knowing Freeman can not read....."what does the first letter in Brauer sound...Brrrrr, Brrrrrr".

On Laserdisk was in my local electronics dealers showroom. They had it on a Pioneer Laserdisk player that had a shuttle jog wheel. I walk into to room and there are the salesmen just rolling around laughing. Well it didn't take long to figure out why, they had the sceen where Moloaram pulled the heart out of they unlucky Indian guy (not Indy!) and were playing it back and forth; taking it out, and putting it back in. Quite a hoot!
