WOO HOO....Looks like my 03/16 prediction about Jack's dad wasn't too far off...
    Maybe he's the head honcho...
Last week's show was great, can't wait for tonight...

    Ha, ha...Randy Red Shirt...

Umm, at the end of last season, wasn't there some high-profile boss lady talking to Russians at the south pole? Whatever happened there?

i doubt it, but i'm really hoping they off those two "new characters" they introduced at the pearl station. the weird spanish/italian? dude and the blonde chick. they stuck out like sore thumbs in that episode so taking one of them out would be nice.

30 mins to go! woo hoo.

    Ask and you shall receive.

...or will Nikki's hand come plummeting out of the ground a la Carrie (Hmmm, isn't that the book club reading from S3 E1?) at the beginning of next weeks show.

A show of hands please...how many of you thought (and hoped) that it would be Charlie who bites the dust tonight?

It's HARD to be humble, when you're so damn good!!!
Two for two... I predicted the death of Randy Red Shirt and voila, he's spider bait. Didn't see them being such cold blooded killers though. All for something useless on that Island. Nice little flashback show though but on the whole, just one 42 minute tease. These guys look like they're running out of ideas... but quick. Preview suggests Cat Fight Frenzy next week... ooh nice.

Whole episode reminded me of Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Guess sometimes crime doesn't pay... While we all know that crime pays exceedingly well.

I agree Worf, not much substance, but very interesting if you paid attention to some of the detail. For example, did you notice that the first people that Nikki came into contact with after the crash are all dead now? Professor Kaboom, Boone, and Ethan.

I also thought that it was kind of neat how Nikki and Paulo found some of the things on the island that had such great importance to the story and just dismissed them, like the airplane in the tree and the Pearl Station. It was of no immediate value to them, so it wasn't worth investigating. And we thought that all that Paulo was doing was going to the bathroom when Locke & company went down into the Pearl. I wonder what other secrets people are keeping that we don't know about. Hmmmmm?

And it's funny how "Paulo lies" sounds so much like "I'm paralized".

Kind of a sinister plot twist, even for Lost.

Where has Rose been all season? I miss her. She'd have some good wisdom and advice for Charlie while he's waiting for his death.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention my favourite line of the night..."I'm just a guest star and we all know what happens to guest stars". As soon as the words left her mouth I said, she's the dead one.

Damn, could it be that last night's episode was planned almost 3 seasons ago? All those flashbacks, were refreshing.

I really enjoyed this episode as a diversion - though I don't know what purpose it served in continuing the plot (other than wrapping up a few loose ends on some otherwise useless extras?). Oh, and maybe giving us a bit of drama at camp now that Sawyer and Charlie were exposed.

Hmmm, wonder who'd win if Sawyer and Jin got in a fight?

On the surface, it seems that last nights show doesn't really fit, but it was pretty deep.

It sort of forced everyone to re-examine past actions, that perhaps would have been left alone. Charlie & Sawyer confessing to Sun would be the biggest one. How is that going to change the dynamics now?

It was a sort of "Momento" show, and my wife and I LOVED it. It didn't come around and hit you until the very end when she dropped the paralyzing bit on they guy. I about jumped off the couch and said.. They are going to be buried alive! What a moment.

Now, how is the island going to react to 2 restless souls? Is this the last of them? Or will they come back to haunt those that killed them?

Nobody "killed" them, they killed themselves, or started to when they ran the "Crooklyn Okeydoke" on that OZ director. Why should their souls feel "cheated"? They were buried with their diamonds.

actually, i think the island wanted them dead. did you hear the "monster" clicking noise after she got the diamonds and he 'confessed' to her. i know arnst said that her pheremones brings every mail around, but then it seemed like the island sure wanted it to happen. i think hugo was right in the end, the Monster did it. but they did bring it on themselves.

i'm still trying to figure out why the Monster killed eko.

I kept hearing Khan whispering to Kirk "Buried alive. Buried Aliiiiiiiiiiiiive!" when Nikki's eyes popped open at the end. Was it just me?

So...there must be some clause in Kate's contract that states she can be the only hot chick on the island, 'cause they keep killing every other one off! :mad2: Starting any show with a hot girl on a pole is guaranteed rating in my book. I have to agree tho, this episode did nothing to forward the plot. It must have been vacation week during shooting for the regulars. I would like to know if any of you guys that have S1 on dvd can check some of the scenes that Niki was in and see if she really is there in the opening episode. That would be pretty cool actually. The flashbacks to the other dead characters was actually pretty cool. I had forgotten how much of a waste of oxygen Boone's sister was (another dead hottie, btw).

The only thing I pulled from the episode was the island has a way of delivering justice. Last week, Locke's dad shows up out of nowhere. Now Palo and Niki bite it...literally. Now, the question is; what did Charlie do in his past to earn his impending demise?

Yeah, usually when the monster's out killin' losties there's a loud, fog-horn-ish sound, isn't there? This was more spidery-exosekeletal sounding...
Unless the monster can manifest itself as spiders? How deep is that?

So? Where's the "it's Wednesday, only xx hours to go hype"? And no pre-Lost commentary on the upcoming cat fight? Or speculation on how Kate and Juliet get handcuffed together? I would expect that GMicheal, at the very least, would come up with some sort of sinister and perverted theory. :hand:

i don't want to jinx my run of getting a prediction right (even though it technically wasnt a full on prediction). but... i really have no idea what could happen with tonight's episode... just that we've got a month and a half (right?) 6 episodes left? till season's end, so we better start ramping up towards something.

i'd like to have a flash to the 'real' world and either something with michael or penelope. i'm thinking that when we do find out, penelope is the one who will scoop up michael out in the open seas and then try and find the island. but the big reveal will be michael will give her the exact direction they had been coming in and how long/far they travelled, she'll go to that exact spot, only to see nothing there.

It's baaaaa-aaaaack! Can't wait to check Sledgeweb's site tomorrow to see whether there was anything interesting in those white flashes that were blinding Kate and Juliet. And I don't believe Juliet for a minute...we don't know what it is but we know it doesn't like our fences.

So, was Juliet left behind because the Others don't want her anymore, or is she a plant gathering information about the beach. Although, I can't imagine why The Others would need a plant at this point. They seem to know everything anyway.

How long until the people from the beach move into those nice comfy houses? And speaking of those comfy houses...what ever happened to Karl? Didn't Sawyer let him go so that he could go back to Othersville to find his true love, Alex? We heard no word of him back in Othersville.

But most importantly...where did Locke go?!?!?! And where's his Daddy? We need to keep him around so that Sawyer can meet him.

I really like how Sawyer's sort of softening up to the Losties. Hurley and him have great chemistry, you just can't write that - credit to both actors.
He's really redeeming himself on this island, saving his soul and all that...But he's still bad-ass enough to get all the ladies and be cool...

I don't trust that Juliet. Not only is she a super ninja who kicked kate's pool cue swingin hide, she's just as tricky as Ben...I said to my wife at the start "she's not really out cold and she's planning something". Then she grabs the knife at the right time...
    The monster/fence scene was...interesting.
What did I miss there though? She had the cuff key and dragged Kate out there to try and join the camp? I don't think so. The Others are still playing head games with the Losties.

Sayid didn't look too happy about keeping her, did he..

In other news....I'm a Stephen King junkie...Yesterday I read in a fan club e-mail (I know, I know) that Mr. King ( a huge Lost fan himself) has sold the rights to "The Dark Tower" series (a 7-book long series for the unaware) to none other than Mr. Abrams and Mr. Lindelof...This should result in the most wicked awesome thing ever created...
    Funny quote:

“I know J.J. Abrams’ work and Damon Lindelof, who is his collaborator on Lost. Damon is just a total comic-book freak, and he loves the Dark Tower books. I trust those guys, and they have a lot on the ball. When they said they wanted to talk about doing this, I said, ‘You know what? Why don’t you buy the option on this and see what you can come up with.’ They asked, ‘How much do you want for an option?’ I said, ‘$19.’ (A key amount that comes up frequently in the books) And that’s what they paid me, and that’s where it is.”

$19 bucks, huh? Fans of Stephen King will recognize the number that reoccurs in many of his novels. I'm guessing it ends up as one of those HBO type mini-series things like Rome or Dexter.

stephen king is one of the coolest writers out there and often gives the rights to his short stories to student or independent filmmakers to make films out of for $1.00. I believe that's how Frank Darabont got his start. his first indie short was a stephen king one that he bought from him for $1.00, after which he went on to do Shawshank and Green Mile.

ok, so when the Other's were all bailing camp, they put on gas masks and had their riot gear ready and took off in a huff. They left behind 4 people. Sayid chained to the swingset, Kate locked in the poolroom, Jack locked in his house, and Juliette who knows where/how.

Why the theatrics? There's something there (duh, obviously) that they were hiding or concealing their real intent for bailing on Othersville not just that the Losties knew its location now.

So i'm with kexo on the julliette-is-not-to-be-trusted deal. Ben just might have given her another "do this for me and i'll get you back to your sister" deal.

And did we know that sawyer's chick was pregnant from before? i didn't remember that lil bit 'o info.

Yeah, he calls those his dollar babies. There's a select number of short stories that are eligible, and under certain conditions film students can go ahead and use them, provided there's no commercial activity for the film. Oh, and King gets a copy. Pretty generous of him.
Guess he can be a bit nasty though, he tore a strip of Kubrick for some of the mean things he had to say about King way back when he was making The Shining.

I'm just excited about the possibilities here - Abrams and Lindelof are fans, and should do The Dark Tower justice.
Guess there's a Star Trek movie they one's gotta finish first though.

We knew Sawyer was a daddy before. Remember she visited him in Prison when he was running that scam on that doughboy prisoner? He had his share of the profits sent to her and his kid, anonymously. Women say they want a "good man", when in reality they all want to be owned and rough housed by some semi-bearded desperado like Sawyer... Typical... LOL (don't shoot FA).

No, most of us just want a guy like Sawyer for one anonymous night. :ihih: It's not something that we'd actually want to commit to for the long haul.
