    USB cable length

    Hi all -
I'm interested in connecting my PC sound system to my home theater receiver. I'm using an external sound card that connects to my PC via USB 2.0. In order to save some money on opital/coax cable (connecting the external sound card to the receiver), I thought I would just run a long USB cable from PC to the external sound card adjacent to the receiver - it's all the way across the room. This way i can use short (3') interconnects for the audio ins and outs.

Will I lose any transfer speed/integrity with an increasing length of USB cable? Say, 30 feet or so?

    Thanks for your help!

The USB spec. for the cable length is 5m or 16 ft or so. You can use a powered hub in the middle to get over 30 ft. length.
