    Is bigger always better

    Hey All -

I just got into this audio stuff and was curious...is bigger always better. I came across a thread where it mentioned that the least possible smallest gauge is better for audio . I currently have a spool of 11 guage *speaker cable* I was planning to use.

Thanks in advance for the tips !

That's right, smaller gauge is better. Yours is 11, that perfect enough. The common use cable is about 16.

As far as I know, bigger usually doesn't mean better. Depending on the materials that they use. Hope this helps!

Is that supposed to be a picture of it? If so, what's the third wire for?

The black cable is supposed to act as a dielectric.

The black wire seem to increase the distance between conductors which might contribute to higher cable's inductance. Removing it will probably be better
