OK JDaniel, here's another attempt at "fun"

I read the "edit" post about changing the content of a post, but it was a bit to complicated for my simple mind

How about something a little more straightforward: a battle of the bands. Every so often someone can post 2 bands to go head-to-head and anyone who wants to play, votes on their more favorite. I'll keep track of the winners. If theres' a reasonable level of interest, we can have a "March madness" elimination round with the winners.

Since these 2 bands recently had some interest, I'll start:

    Yes vs, Jethro Tull

Cast your votes, and let the fun begin!

    first vote: YES!!!!

I like Tull as much as the next guy, but Yes was very inovative, more prolific, and heck, they're still touring at age 90

In the battle of these two bands, maybe we prog-haters will be fortunate and the two aging acts will find some way to bore each other to death. Maybe Yes should play their ode to symphonic tedium, Tales Of Topographic Oceans, and Jethro Tull will answer with their bloated opus Thick As A Brick (ELP would have to work their suckfest Works Vol. 1 in there, too). By the end of the mind-numbing assault of notes, all sides will be so depleted they will have to give up in exhaustion and concede the throne to an unseen force from NYC, the RAMONES!!! And there will be much rejoicing, for the 23-minute overblown prog epic (complete with full orchestra and laser light show) will be no more.

Yes, but not by much. Yes are in my top 10 favourite acts of all time, Jethro Tull are in my top 25-ish.

Yeah, that edit idea is the stupidest fogging idea I've ever heard. Why would you do that?

    Duh - a no-brainer. Tull. By a wide margin.

Although I did just last week pick up Yes "Fragile" remaster. And I'm not a progger.

    Two excellent bands

But if you're gonna make me choose, I have to go with Yes.

Why don't you set this up as a poll? Then you don't have to count votes on your own.

I was kind of hoping they would pummel each other beyond recognition.

So we should choose which band we hate the most?

Ok, that was my turn to have some fun. I used to like both of them when the phrase "prog" was not so common. I still have all the lyrics memorized to the "Yes Album" and "Aqualung" memorized, or at least most of 'em, but they were so 70s.

I actually had an idea to do this the opposite way that you suggested. In other words, we choose two wankers, say Creed and Warrant, then we pick the one we hate the most, then we name another wanker.

Anyway, I just dropped the idea because it would only lead to lots of hostility and such since there are going to be some idjitz who actually like these wanker bands.

I guess I'd have to choose Tull since they were more rock than prog at one time.

Let's pick two wankers and vote. The first set of wankers are......

    Swishy and Finchy

Now let's vote for who's the bigger wanker.

P.S. It is National Pick-On-Finch week, right?

Oh great, now we've got a tie

Well, maybe some punch cards from the geriatric crowd in Florida will come trickling in
    Thanks for the vote.

I liked Tull more in the 70s when I lived it, but think Yes was the more innovative and creative of the 2 bands now.

    Yes.

And Finch is BY FAR the biggest wanker.
