That does look like an interesting one. I've been on a bit of a jazz kick myself since doing a lot of listening to the two Jazztone albums in the batch shown below:

I really need to stop wandering around flea markets on the weekends. This is getting out of hand. But, some good finds for cheap and they are all in great shape. Couple less than perfect covers but the vinyl is all nice and quiet. The pile shown doesn't count a stack of 20 50s/60s 45s for 2 bucks that are great fun to play with.

It does look like it would be a classic. The rest of the lineup is George Morrow, Harold Land and Richie Powell. I haven't played it, yet. Maybe tonight.

Harold Land....and Bud Powell's little brother, much under rated in the Jazz world.

Just picked this up today. Kenny Burrell Midnight Blue 45 RPM 2 LP on 180g vinyl.

Amazing! Rich, full and textured. I now know what people mean when they talk about holographic.

Amazing material and recording.

I really enjoy the sound of 45 rpm vinyl in my system.

The only downside? With only 7 songs on 2 LP's there is a lot of up and down to change sides. Easily worth it.

Just got a new 10.5" reel of good tape for the Pioneer 909. This will be the first thing on it.

IMO, everyone needs to own this one.

Burrell's Midnight Blue is my go-to album for people who want to hear a good jazz album. I consider it to be one of the most accessible to the novice out of all the all-time great jazz albums. Anyone who hears it loves it.

I ventured a little outside my usual genres...not too far, though. I sort of liked Kristofferson back in the days of his work with wife, Rita Coolidge. I liked Rita better, and not just for her beauty (which was somewhat impressive). This was sitting at Half-Price Books sealed and I was in a spendy mood.

Bought a mystery box of records off Craigslist site unseen for cheap. Was described as some R&B stuff. I can't say it was a treasure trove, but did end up with some really good stuff mixed in there. Some Parliament records, some Slave, Lee Oskar, a couple Isaac Hayes, O'Jays, Smokey Robinson, the Brothers Johnson, Earth Wind & Fire, Temptations, Average White Band. There's also several 12" singles, most of which are too obscure for me to know much about. Started with a pile of about 60-70, and have maybe 15-20 designated for the dumpster, the rest at least somewhat interesting. The vinyl so far is all in great shape, but the covers are kinda rough, bad enough they would be tough to sell for much, but since I bought them for listening good enough. Spinning Parliment right now.

Was this album before or during her early Fleetwood Mac years? I bought the first ( or second?, the one with the Gorilla) Fleetwood album she did and she had some good cuts on there.

This was right before her time as a full member of Fleetwood Mac. Christine did some session work with them before this. She was with a band called Chicken Shack at the time of the session work.

She's a lovely singer. Kind of leaning toward a Julie London tone, but not as low. A little sweet and melancholy on this album.

Turned up in a thrift store...

I kept all my vinyl treasures for the past three decades, but now have rebuilt a large portion of what I did unload at the outset of the CD rage along with buying a lot of new vinyl. May I suggest you try the new Beach Boys, the new Noel Gallagher, and my current favorite, an imported 45 of Billy Connolly doing "Irish Heartbeat." Amazing.

Man!! You guys are killin me!! nobody such impressive hauls!! I began collecting Jazztone sides and am currently in need of only 8 more to finish. These are all originals with the covers pictured in your post. One thing about Jazztone, if you just want the music, many of the albums have been reissued several times over the years. One good example is Sammy Price And His Barrelhouse Blues... man that side has been pressed under two or three of the sidemen's names, let alone Sam Price.

Noob you are emassing a wonderful collection of jazz essentials my friend. Your tastes have really become refined and when I see an Argo Jazztet side in your post, I can't help but be pleased.

Oh and yes nobody, I must comment about those 45's... so impressive. I went through a spell of Norman Granz produced Eldridge sides. I paid dearly but managed to find most at "reasonable" prices. My next move would logically be back to the Vogue sides which preceded his time with Clef/Verve. How do they sound??
