Or go one better. Get a Behringer ECM 1000 measurement mic. Then you won't just get a number, but you can actually measure and improve your inroom bass, figure out what moving your sub really does, etc. It's pretty cheap. Add a mic preamp and some free software and you have a PC measurement system.

Now I remember seeing some speakers that are said to output 120-130dB. I wonder if it's a bit like those peak watt measurements (1000W before electronics start to melt) or is it a true number cause if it is, they must be extremely loud.

I am finally in the position to upgradeI am looking for an amp upgrade for either just my fronts or a 5 channel.I need more power for my fronts mainly.Currently own a rotel rmb 1095(200x5).Been a while since i posted.Been looking on e bay audiogon etc.The new icepower amps by d sonic seem like the would do the job from what i've read.I never see them for sale used so that tells me people are very happy with them and don't want to part with them.I see sunfire amps for sale alot.The 400 plus watt ones.Another option perhaps.Any advice would be great. Probably want to stay under 2000.I know thats not alot to spend but buying used you can get good deals at times.

Get yourself a Parasound Halo A21 and call it a day my speakers are rated at 89db and handle 400 watts! my room is 20x21x8 and this 250 watt 2 channel high current beast, has more than enough headroom,plays loud and sounds darn good good while doing it. You will get scared and turn it down first and loose in this game of chicken(LOL), best amp you will find for $2000 period!

You will get scared and turn it down first and loose in this game of chicken(LOL), best amp you will find for $2000 period!

Ditto, I have the Parasound A21 and it is an awesome amp. It can play my Magnepan 1.6's to extremely loud levels with crystal clear clarity. It has fantastic dynamics due to its dampening factor of >1100 and it's headroom. Its an extremely fast amp which is great from top to bottom end. It's not the end all for amps but it is well worth the money and competes well with amps costing a lot more. Build quality is exceptional.

Another amp to consider and a real bargain is the B&K Reference 200.2. It has a warmer sound and is built rock solid.
