Very NICE Dak! I always like the distinct look of Yamaha myself. Getting harder to find those as time goes on, definitely a good score!

Score after score and I start to get full with stereos home! There will be a reduction soon but my heart hurts when I think of selling something good I like!

I hear ya, I have about 35 pairs of speakers. Every time I think of getting rid of a pair, I give them their 'final" play. Then rediscover something I like about them and change my mind.

Hey guys. I picked up a Yamaha CDC-635 for 5 bucks yesterday, complete with remote. I love my CDC 575, so I thought why not, plus this unit has variable output which will come in handy down the line.

Hi Jo, and welcome to AR. I don't think you'll be able to find direct replacement caps, due to age, your best bet is to pull off the cover and make your own list of what type of caps and value you'll need. As far as electrolytic caps go, I've read other forums where people have had good luck using Panasonic caps from Digi-Key without breaking the bank. You may also search this forum for a thread by TWC66, who replaced caps on his Adcom amp with good results. In some instances (I don't recall which) he replaced some electrolytics with non polar audio caps from Parts Express with good results.

Congratulations chubbs! Don't know how it sounds, but to me it's handy to have a changer for convenience (as I do) even though the audio purists frown down upon them. For $5, how can you go wrong?

Wow I always wanted to have a separate Marantz amp but they are hard to find on craigslist.

Poppa, the cd player you got is a good one and the price is more than a steal! I have CDC-645 and CDC-685! The 685 is much better the way it functions. On those Yamaha players with the time the display light starts to diminish!

Well I got a Marantz surround receiver in the original box and with the remote for pretty much nothing $$. It is not top of the line but the sound is good, I kind of like it.

    Very nice, Dakata.

A relatively recent model, I'd guess, based on the "Dolby Digital" emblem and the styling. Does it have S-Video inputs and do video switching?

No it doesn't have all those options! It is pretty simple 5.1 surround receiver! It sounds good, I like the sound!

Nice pick up Dak! A friend of mine has the SR 4001, which he bought about 3 years ago as they were being replaced with the SR 4002. He's very happy with his. It's a nice receiver, I've been impressed with the more recent Marantz products the last 5 years, nice to see them comeback and not take cheapo route other receievers have.

hahah. Funny. Yes I use analog for reference but I use digital also. I also do alot of ripping from vinyl to file. I don't buy CDs anymore unless there is no choice. I can now focus my money into vinyl solely. My rips are top quality FLAC files although "only" 16/44.1. I also use Audacity's metadata tag editor so they are fully tagged with any extra info I can add such as Record Label, players/instruments, etc. I also tag an image for the cover art which is great for Media Monkey which displays such things.

The Touch operates by plugging in a USB drive which is great for me. If I figure to be upstairs all day I can take it into my HT system and listen up there. So the vinyl comes with me but I don't have to flip an LP.

    Welcome to AR.
A great piece from Marantz' "Golden Age".
What other gear are you going to run with it?

Is that Yamaha a 5-disc player?
I got a CDC-645 5-disc player as a throw in when I picked another Sony ES reciever a couple of weeks ago. Have not hooked it up and was not sure what to do with it since I don't think it is better than my Sony ES player or Denon but I guess I need to give it a listen first.

Ya it's a 5 disc. The only 5 discs i have been able to stomach have been Yammy's.
