Subwoofer Question

Hi, im constructing a new ht set up and i was picking out my sub, i wanted to get this klh one

When I was reading the specifications it says: Required Amplifier Power: 125w. Now this is only a 125w peak performance sub... Does that mean 125w total reciever power? Or 125wpc? I just cant believe it would require as much wats as its peak performance is. And then below it, it says Assembly Required, what is that supposed to mean? Assembly by attatching it to a ht system or what?

My alternative to that sub would be this 1 .

The amp contained in the subwoofer is supposedly 125 watts.

Personally I'd avoid the sub. 42lbs? Doubtful. KLH isn't exactly the best when it comes to either the sub or speaker market. You may wish to look on Parts Express website for the Dayton Audio 10" powered subwoofer.

For the KLH, it includes an amp. 125W is peak power. It is the maximum output. It probably requires you to put on the feet for the sub but not much else.

My KLH subwoofer is in a box sitting on a shelf in my garage. I'm thinking about chopping it up for kindling...

The sub has a built-in amp. Assembly on a sub like this is just going to be screwing the feet on. I would, if I were you, consider a larger sub than the 10". This subs response cuts out at 30hz, so it's not a "true" sub, more like a powered wooofer. What speakers will you be using as mains?
