    PSB subsonic 5i any good?

Hi, i am newbie and want to buy my first AV system. I wonder if sub PSB subsonic 5i is any good? i'm searching in review of this site and found that even the review is quite good but last review is 2 years old (2003) and the review is for subsonic 5. It's price here about $250 (other sub can beat its price here only some yamaha subs). Im planning to use it with B&W 601 as main speaker and stil confuse using denon avr 1905 or marantz sr4500 as receiver. I will use my system most for music but will be nice if it can be good in movie as well.

    Thanx for any advice..

Everything gets a good review -- and 90% of stuff is garbage imo.

All you really need to do is to make sure whatever interests you you can bring back for something else. Listen and hear if it sounds good. It might it might not.

The next model up from PSB, the Subsonic 6i won the shootout against some pretty stiff competition. I'm not sure if you can extrapolate from this, but it seems that PSB does make some pretty good subs.

Thanks for response. I have hear subsonic5i sound. The bass quite deep and i think its a musical sub. But the sound is not so loud. I just dont know how more expensive sub sound like to compare with this sub. I'm still confuse too about what receiver will i use between denon avr1905 and marantz sr4500. Which one will produce better sound for music?

A larger sub will play louder, and lower.

As to your question about recievers; That I'm not sure of as I haven't demoed either. Perhaps you should post a question in the Home Theater forum.
