Thank you so much for your replies, I decided to cancel my order.

However, now I am sort of lost... I have read tons of people asking for speakers within x price range, but receiving responses above x price range - is it really that hard to find something under say $400. I prefer new however if I can get something for relatively cheap then I won't mind used especially if local.

I have checked my local classifieds as well as my local D.I and haven't found anything worth having except a pair of pioneer cs-b5000 speakers for $10. They were ok but I ended up giving them to my sister.

I ran to Best Buy again today and listened to the Sony 5000, the Klipsch vf-36 and 35 (Best Buy only models), and the polk audio ti400's. I highly preferred the Klipsch vf-36 over even the 35, and next was the polk audio... I also noticed how much extra power/volume it took to make the Sony's perform the same loudness wise as the others. Bookshelves though I preferred the Polk's (not sure of model) over all the others.

Based off of that, and sorry if this has been asked 10,000 times, what should I be looking at?

I am going to run down to a local furniture store that happens to carry Paradigm and test them out - they do seem expensive but I might be able to buy the floor model.

Thanks again, and thanks for saving me from a possibly unhappy purchase.

    Travis

edit - I found a pair of Klipsch F-3 speakers for $395. I am still researching the speakers but would this be a deal?
