    Ipod Docking Speakers

Hi there, my dad is trying to find himself some speakers he can plug his ipod directly into. The problem's that he's not got a clue about what he's really getting, and I can't really help him, because neither do I. Is there anything you can reccomend? I've been trying to steer my dad clear of the docking speakers, and just getting a decent set of speakers with an amp, and an ipod cable, because i've felt that you'd be getting more for your money by doing so. Is this true? In terms of budget, anything around the £200 mark, can stretch higher (and probably will knowing my dad). Any and all help greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Seb.

Pair this receiver with a small pair of bookshelf speakers, like some small Monitor Audio's that you should be able to get for a good price in Europe. http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/produc.../specification The Infinity Primus 152's are a decent budget speaker as well.

Hi. Thanks for the speedy reply. I was wondering if you, or anyone, could reccomend anything in particular in regards to the speakers? Thanks again.

    What's your budget?

I wouldn't normally recommend Bose speakers but in this case...

I purchased a set of Bose computer speakers that include a sub-woofer and a couple of tiny satellite speakers. They plug right into my iPod dock. I use them in my home office and they actually sound pretty good. Not audiophile quality, but for the majority of people, they'd be just fine. And I can crank the volume pretty loud too. The sound is way better than the Bose docking speakers.

Mine are a few years old, but I think that this would be the equivalent today.

There are probably cheaper options out there with good sound. But these work for me.

I heard the larger one in Harrods, London last year and was blown away when they pointed to what was playing.
