I personally don't find Infinity and Polk simular in sound.
This is pretty much what I was about to write... IMO this would not be a good idea unless you are just using your system for casual listening or are so far off center when sitting that a "phantom center" would not work well.

Bottom line is that it really *is* important to properly match the center channel to your mains -- not a place to "cheap out" in my book if you can help it.
