What exactly is your goal? Are you looking for speakers that can blow down a frat house or speakers that can shake your soul with musicality unlike any other? Also, what is your budget? Once I have some more information I can certainly give you some ideas.

    Also, what is your budget?
    Well.....?

    How about this??? http://cgi.ebay.com/DIVINCI-DV-1450-...QQcmdZViewItem

I must warn you. Their stuff isn't as great as it was in the 60s and 70s. I got some Divinci stuff stashed away in my closet for Armageddon.

Perhaps I'm crazy, but I see nothing in your equipment list that can not be handled by relatively ordinary speakers. If I remember correctly your amps were 250 watts, maybe I'm wrong but the following still tracks for other wattages.

A 250 watt amplifier can typically be played no louder than 25 watts becasue most music has a ten to one peak to average ratio. So if the volume is set so the peaks don't clip, the maximum average level ends up around 25 Watts. That is the amount of heat the speakers will need to dissipate and almost all ordinary speakers can handle that amount.

With a 90 dB SPL effcient speaker you will end up with 104dB SPL average volume, loud but not deafening. You need much more efficient speakers (read $$$) or more power.

Hey 2325fan. I'll ask you this again. What is your budget? If you can tell us this, we can definitely lead you to a great pair of speakers.
Let's just look at 2 options here.
You can choose to get a pair of bookshelf and get a powered sub for your bass. Or you can go for a 3 way tower speakers.
What type of music do you listen to?
I'm really confused with you so far. Give us some details.

I think you should try to absorb what herman tried to tell you.

He wasn't trying to insult you. He's simply stating well known facts. Had you been more knowledgable in these matters you would have known that and known it wasn't an insult.

After all, if you're here to learn, you should listen to what's being said. Obviously, you've got a lot to learn. Simply coming out swinging when you don't understand what's being said doesn't bode well for your reputation here.

    2325:
Just so you know, watts don't mean squat. Given the right speaker and the right room, a 10 watt flea amp could make your ears bleed. Loud does not equal good. However, if volume is what you're looking for, check into high efficiency (>96db/w/m) speakers from Cerwin Vega or Klipsch. The latter will offer better sound quality, but the former may be more durable.

that, would, indeed, mean... Nothing at all
if you have speakers with a low efficiency, they would most likely just play, but not really 'deafening'
watt doesn't mean alot you know, it is something, but when you say 'the output meters pushed a total of over 400 watts' it is nothing.

And, Please, alot of people asked it before,
What budget would you have in mind?
without that, we can't really help you, well we can, but what's a man with a list of thousands of speakers??

deep bass, volume, a grand budget, you could audition the high end cerwin vegas, (not the party speaker crap) the wooden ones, there are some with woofers up to 15" and they all have a high efficiency that means they'll go loud without needing alot of power.
also try klipsh, not sure which ones.
wharfedale will do fine too maybe, the diamond 9.6 comes at 650$ a pair i think,
or maybe monitor audio, but theyr'e not really ment to go loud loud, they are more for quality, the silver reference 6 comes at $1000 and the 8 comes at $1300 i think,
maybe b&w dm604's they come at $1200 a pair, go loud enough and play nice, really there are alot of possebilities in your budget range, anyways, always remember that loud doesn't mean good, also, keep in mind that you can drive almost every normal speaker with your amps, with that i mean that you can use 100 watt speakers and don't turn the volume up too much, or you can go for 500 watt speakers and do turn up the volume.

You may also want to consider KEF. I've always thought they were incredible speakers. But I've only heard KEF Reference with Class A tube amps so I can't comment on others

You may want to keep your good eye on this site.
