    Some CES Highlights

Some interesting new toys from CES

New "Slimfit" CRT HDTVs from Samsung.
I had been under the impression that these were going to be killed. But they seem to be popular as a low cost compromise set. Smaller than standard CRT, cheaper than an LCD. I wonder how the video performs with these new sets?

    Combo HD-DVD & Blu-Ray Player from LG
That was fast! it didn't take long before someone came to market with a player that plays both next gen discs. It will be released in the first quarter of 2007, for $1,199. Good Work LG!

Digeo, Inc Moxi DVR Media Center
New HD-DVR to compete with Tivo and your Cable Company's box. Unfortunately there are not a lot of details here (Cable Card 2.0?), and they don't even have a working model at the show. but there needs to be more HD-DVR's out there, so I'm keeping my eye them.

ATI's TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner

Finally, the first computer TV/Video card to support Digital Cable. Cable Card included. Too bad it's gigantic and ugly.

    Macworld Gadget Gallery from Wired

    Toshiba REGZA 1080p Displays

    Hitachi 1080p Plasma Displays
A 50" 1080P Display for $2,500! First in the US!

    Samsung's Wireless Plasma
Sling 1080i HD Video wirelessly to this plasma via 802.11N - the latest Wireless Protocol.

My personal fave from your links:

Look closely at their chests and you'll see that the girls from the CompanyStuff.com T-shirt booth are sporting shirts emblazoned with geeky logos like "Control Freak" and "I'm a Mac."

Funny, I looked closely at their chests and couldn't see any geeky logos at all. Mebbe I need to look harder?

Topspeed I gotta say you have posted the best picture I have seen on this forum for quite some time.
that makes as much sense as a drunken mongoose playing the piano

Eric, I'm with Charter cable and have had a HD-DVR Moxi box for about 2 years, there must be something different about the one they are showing.

Hmmm, I've never been to one of these, but I always thought it be a huge, sweaty, man-filled event....guess I was wrong!

Anyone talking about laser TVs? There was a thread here not too long ago that this would be the next big thing in flat screen TVs, and that it would drop the price for all formats.

P.S. This year I sent my assistant instead of going myself. He won a PS3 at the Sony booth. Argh!
